Edited Dec. 11, 2023 at 8:31 a.m.. Reason: Spell Vanecek's name correctly
Bruins don't need a 4C, and Vanecek's contract is a negative. Ullmark's value is way higher than this.

Add a 1st, and an A+ prospect to this and then maybe.

Or Ullmark + for Mercer

Bruins have no reason to move Ullmark for this underwhelming offer

Lol.

Counter with Boqvist/Lauko for Hughes.

That’s how bad this is.

Today - Ullmark/Boqvist for Mercer/Bahl or Holtz/Bahl then if you want us to take Vanecek you add a 1st. He sucks has term and is not moveable. That’s a problem.

Offseason. 1st and B prospect. Or 2nd and A prospect.

Why would the Bruins ever do this lol. You aren't getting the reigning vezina winner for scraps.

Have you ever looked at what goaltenders have gone for in the past? Like ever went and taken a quick Look?

Yup. Well aware.

The last significant goalie traded was Kuemper. Got a 1st/Timmins/ cond 3rd as rental with retention.

Last significant goalie Boston traded was Jones. Got a 1st and Kuraly as an RFE.

You think Boston should take less than this for Ullmark? He’s better.

Boston has no need or desire to trade him in season. If somebody wants him, they will have to give Boston a reason to move him. Paying far more than market value. In the offseason, back to market value. 1st and B prospect. 🤷🏻‍♂️

BTW A few others.

Varalmov RFA rights - 1st
Tomas Vokoun - 1st/2nd/cond 2nd

One of the main reasons for the goalie trade value narrative is that it’s not often high end goalies are moved. Most goalie trades involve low end starters, backups, spare parts, expiring contracts, cap dumps.

Let’s just do each other a favor.

There is no point in discussing a goalie trade to New Jersey. A few fans will pull up limited data points as justification of price on both sides since great goalies generally don’t get traded until they are older and there is a replacement in house.

Jersey will continue to have mediocre goaltending unless Schmid improves or they do something they haven’t shown themselves capable of doing yet … trade for the cheap one that works out.

They aren’t alone there. A team will hit ever year with one unexpected player and said player will be used as justification for the 5 or 6 teams that woefully underachieve because of bad goalies

The Bruins will continue to overachieve with two great goalies that work well together and some fans will want to acquire one for cheap when they are automatic job security for their GM.

If it happens, it happens … but it’s really not worth a discussion here unless you want to read the same tired arguments on both sides that each have some truth to them even if the other side disregards them.
