Why do the hawks want Kuz?

Kuz is a 2 year rental going on 28 years old, not a chance a rebuilding team (Blackhawks) do this.

He has the skill to play with Bedard. He's entertaining, can help keep things light in the dressing room. The Hawks don't have to worry about his play away from the puck or how he would perform in the playoffs right now. He's only under contract for one more year, and he's a guy they could flip at next year's deadline for a good return.

That's all possible. But CHI just isn't paying a 1st for him. I doubt any team is paying a 1st for him, honestly. At best, VAN could get a very late one.

Also, I know CGY fans want a 1st for Tanev, but I doubt that is what they get for him, if they even move him.

I don't hate the player but like was mentioned above, I cannot see the hawks paying a first rounder for him.

Hawks decline. They aren't spending a 1st on a 27 y.o. forward with a year and a half left on his deal.

This is the first time I've seen someone cite "keeps it light in the locker room" as a reason to overpay to take on a veteran contract.

If anyone would part with a 1st for Kuz, it would be a Win Now team looking for one more scorer at the deadline.

CGY would accept, although I'm not sure Chicago does.
