I don't see Petterson and Nedeljkovic as a big enough upgrade over Bahl and Vanecek to give up a 2nd and Foote. Plus Bahl and Vanecek are cheaper and under cap for another year.

You are not giving us nearly enough to incentivize the Pens to accept this.

Pettersson alone can fetch a 1st. Ned can get a 3rd, and more with retention. Not to mention that Vanecek stinks and has another year at 3.4 million. You’d need to pay us to even take on Vanecek, which we wont even do because it clogs up next years newly available cap space.

The Pens either keep these two, who have been excellent, (which is what will happen), or sell them off for future assets alone. We’re not helping you. We owe you nothing. You’re stuck with your bad deal in goal.

I completely agree. Trade came from a Pens fan's thread

I completely disagree. Pettersson is an elite player on a steal of a contract for two more years, and Ned has been super solid this year. Foote hasn't even played this year and Vanecek has been among the worst goalies in the league. Bahl is cheap but replaceable.

As Juan noted, not enough imo for that. Don't really think Foote moves the needle much. I'd take him out and bump the 2nd to a 2024 1st.

Offer as stands is heavily titled towards NJD. Pens have to eat an unwanted Vanecek for another year (rebuild or not) that still costs you.

Literally a top 5 defensive defenseman in the league making $4M for this year and next lol.

    Change Vanecek to Stillman.

Could then go “Stiller Foote Bahl”

He's so him. AND he has over 2000 minutes of time playing with Marino already.

    I'd say

    2024 1st + Prospect for Pety at 50%
    3rd and maybe 5th + Vanacek for Ned (3rd = Ned, 5th = taking Vanacek)

This is all assuming the Penguins sell at deadline.

Probably closer to the other way around on Ned vs Vanacek (3rd for dumping vanacek, 5th for Ned) but that's about what I was thinking. With dougie out till playoffs we probably don't need to dump vanacek

It was my proposal. I’m saying a 2nd and Bahl is equal to their first. I’d rather have the player to replace MP. Ned has had a good 7 games here but that’s not nearly enough to know what his value would be in February. He was horrible in Detroit. Vanecek has been the better goalie of those two for his career.

I still think you do 1st + Bahl. I get your thought process on wanting someone to replace him, but he hasn't even made nearly a full season in the NHL yet and he'll be 24 in the summer. Hence why I think still needs to be a 1st.

Pettersson is good, but I'm big on Bahl: think he can be better than Pettersson in 3 years.

That would be a miracle. Bahl will get better in the next couple years, but 23 year old depth players don't often become elite out of nowhere

Bahl I expect to be fantastic on a bottom pair, and passable/decent up on a 2nd pair in tougher minutes as he develops
