Mentality. This team proved last year they are talented and are capable of scoring. I HATE to say coaching because the players need to show up. But there seems to be an extreme lack of accountability. Not saying youw ant a guy like Torts, but you need a coach who has been there and knows what it takes to get there. Donny doesnt seem to be doing that

They built a young fast team, unfortunately there's No Identity. And they built a Coaching staff as Green as that young Roster with No experience to get them out of this Hole they have dug. And the Overall there Leadership sucks on this Team. Only 6 players stayed or where made available after the game last night. And one Tuch couldn't Talk cause he took a puck to the Face. Where's the accountability Adams screams about.

Theories
1. team is young, some players had career years last year, KA didn't do much to improve the team, NHL has a book on some of our players
2. you can't have a nice coach and a nice captain someone in leadership has to have an edge.
3. I don't like this one- they are trying to get the coach fired

Maybe it is time to aquire some veterans, sandpapper guys, glue guys and role players? I look at the defense also. One excellent, one very good and one decent doesn't cut it, I mean I think.
This hurts because I like the team. I like the young players. I like the talent.

Yeah. I actually thought they where going to get more role players, sandpaper guys this past offseason, and fix a decent d-man. I don't want to shop Trouba, but a Trouba type of player, big and tough. And like Nick Foglino kind of a player or Niederreiter...

Dangerous mentality. Just look at EDM. But hopefully they will address the D man problem, and role sandpaper players for identity problem. I love the players, but they need to wake up.

I really don't hope so. But I can understand why it would feel like that.

I agree, wanted them to sign Hathaway in FA, and was hoping for Gudas type because there ain't many Trouba's available. The built a roster and prospect poolxof basically the same mold players. They don't have the right pieces to finish the puzzle coming up through there system.

Yeah. Hathaway and Gudas would do a lot to bring some much needed mojo to this team. I was very hard on Trouba and that signing. Bit he is a Scott Stevens kind of a player. Those will cost you money to sign.

Hm... I'm missing character guys, mainly. They maintain the heart and compete. Someone suggested Hathaway and Gudas, that would have been a nice start.

They are too comfortable in their own group, noone is accountable for their mistakes. Also overall structure is messed up.

Sooo predictable. BUF OTT MTL rebuild with offense in mind but no leadership core or vets in place to Show them he way. It's like a day care with kis in charge lol.
Yet all of their fans will bark at you, saying we will explode lol.
Everybody was laughing at NYR for locking up their core during rebuild instead of stapling our Busts on line 1 or pp1. Like them, Kakko would have started with 40 points and have been locked up @7x 6m lol...

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. What's with MTL catching strays here?

I can't agree about putting MTL in that group. Suzuki, Newhook and Caufield may be young but they've been on a cup final run already. For veteran presence they have Gallagher, Allen, Savard, Pearson and Anderson who have also been on cup runs before on top of Monahan and Matheson who have been great leaders on the team. While the team is young there is still a significant amount of experience in that locker room.

1- injuries have caused us to shuffle the lineup A LOT
2- that’s led to inconsistent play, along with all of our youth

Basically, need to get healthy & keep developing
The talent is there

They have loads of talent. On paper they should be able to compete. Their problem is the players only show up to play some nights.

Comes down to coaching.

Comes down to coaching.
Last night was one of the worse performances ever in my 51 years of watching the Sabres.
Columbus had too many easy zone entries.
What happened to their stretch pass offense?
Too many really bad give-a-ways.
The "BEST" players were all -4 Tuch, Thompson and Power.

Too many factors that we do not know.
We do not know if Tuch, Thompson, Cozens are playing injured as even injured they are better than Rousek, Rosen, Biro or Murray.
Why were Savoie (11 goals and 24 pts in 11 games with the Wild this year) and Kulich only given a one game cameos while Biro, Rousek and Rosen have each played at least 5 NHL games?
Why haven't Okposo, Johnson and Clifton provided more on ice leadership?
Is management still looking to next year? OMW, let's hope not.

Ask the Coach where the stretch passes went, they don't use there Speed for anything.

I'm not sure I know that much about hockey. But as a team they need to rally around something, really not good that they fall apart like this after so many extensions from this summet. Make a big hit, start a line brawl, something. They can't allow these loses to continue eating them up like this.

lol. im actually impressed. This team really could go 0-82 and you'd still think they were great. I mean that in earnest. I would love a pair of rose coloured glasses like that.
