The Flames could get way better value for Tanev, and paying to get rid of Markstrom doesn’t make sense since he’s been serviceable and the Flames aren’t pressed for cap. If anything the Flames are paying to improve the Leafs’ goaltending here.

That markstrom contract is a massive cap dump, he's been bad for a few yeara now and his cap hit is huge with term and would basically make it impossible to sign anything actually needed and they'd still need a goalie

Not true. Markstrom has been excellent this season and is earning his salary. No doubt he had a terrible year last season, but should his play continue this year that'll be 3/4 seasons of great goaltending with the Flames on top of 3 great seasons before that with the Canucks.

Yes, i have watched games and being a mediocre goalie who is in his mid 30s making 6 mill for 2.5 more seasons makes him negative value. Especially with his recent performance record

1) You're over the cap with only 12F/6D/2G.
2) Reaves has to either be rostered at his full cap hit or waived to the AHL and still adding to your cap overage. Nobody's trading for that toilet of a contract, so the usual conditional 7th from "anywhere that wants him" doesn't work either.
3) Calgary can get more moving those players individually to other teams, it's going to take more than a Grebenkin-level prospect that may or may not even come to North America to get there.
4) Calgary already has Wolf ready to go, if they're trading away Markstrom or Vladar it's to reallocate resources to forwards or D. Moving one goalie and taking two goalies back doesn't make sense for them at all.
5) Calgary has also openly stated that any Leafs trade will require a heavy overpay from Toronto because they're salty about Treliving.
6) You didn't add Samsonov to the trade.
7) "Biggest deal of the decade" is bold in a decade that included Tkachuk, Eichel, Duchene to Ottawa, Karlsson to San Jose, Weber for Subban...
