Why would Vancouver do this trade?

That's what I thought.
It would have been better if Vancouver traded players like Garland or Myers, which is not happening TBH.

Really, he’d immediately be your 3rd best winger. Isles want to compete and Nyquist is on pace for 60+ pts. He’d be a good fit as well.

I was just being lazy and reusing a trade from an old ACGM. He’d be better suited to go to a team like Dallas, Carolina or maybe NJ

I'd want the Devils to consider pulling the trigger on this deal if Casey was swapped out for Gritsyuk.
But I'd rather the Devils scooping Lankinen up if that's the suggested return for him.

3rd best winger? lol. Palmieri, barzal, lee , and Engvall are all better than nyqvist. Nyqvist isn’t playing well this season, he just plays on a line with Oreilly and Forsberg so he gets a lot of empty calorie points

Watch his offense lately…he creates it. He’s been a great offensive facilitator for us. Nyquist is instantly better than Lee, Engvall, and the rest of your wingers.

Hes been great this season. Just has been cut out of the lineup by Luke Schenn. I’d still think he’s worth a 2nd

Palmieri and Lee are better at driving offense and scoring goals, Nyqvist is a 4th liner playing with 2 1st liners . He’d be a 15-20 point player without them

great charts man. the guy making 7m a year who’s a 40-50 point guy is so much better than the 40-50 point 3m player because an evolving hockey bar graph is a bit higher.

really got us there. you keep those cap catastrophes and we’ll keep nyquist!

A bit lol. Lee creates double the amount of quality scoring chances than nyqvist. The cap hit is irrelevant, you take nyqvist away from forsberg/oreilly he’s a replacement level player

right. i guess we’re going to ignore the fact that the last 4-5 years they’ve output similar offensive production. but sure. use extremely cherry picked evolving hockey graphs because it fits a grasping at straws narrative

i’m not saying nyquist is being traded for a first but don’t act like any of those guys you named besides barzal are all that better 😭
