McLeod is reportedly available and Devils fans need to tone the hype down on him. He’s a mid 20’s 3rd line player that’s good on faceoffs and good defensively but not much more. Those aren’t overly valued and can be found around the league (minus the faceoffs but McLeod also hasn’t taken a lot of draws either).

That being said, straight up the value of Robertson for McLeod is fine. Both generally worth around a 3rd round pick - but the fit of the swap isn’t there. New Jersey will likely use McLeod as part of a package for either a defender or goalie but it won’t be the star guy they want.

Get over this “best faceoff man in the league” BS. He’s not. Just because he has the highest win percentage doesn’t mean he’s the best - a faceoff win is a highly subjective stat in the first place. But McLeod isn’t even in the top 25 in faceoffs taken or faceoffs won.

The devils send him out for the most important faceoffs every time despite having Hischier, Haula, Lazar, Mercer and Tierney all winning faceoffs at a high rate.

He’s been fantastic in the dot for years. It’s not just the %s, it’s watching him play.

He elevates everyone he plays with, has excelled at every spot in the lineup he’s been put in, fits with the system perfectly, and is finally finding a scoring touch. He also took a discount to stay in jersey.

With no realistic replacement on the roster or in the pipeline, I would need a haul to move him.

They are very difficult to replace. If he was a winger I’d agree. Wingers are very easy to replace. It’s not easy to find a center. How many centers in the upcoming free agent class are better than McLeod?

Elias Lindholm-Seeking 9 million dollars into his late 30s
Chandler Stephenson: seeking a bag also probably into his mid 30s. Hasn’t been better than Mikey this year
