I don't think Yzerman does.

The Cat's contract is significantly less. The Wings have more forward prospects knocking (Berggren, Kasper amd Soderblom). And you have to think Kane re-ups.

I think Yzerman spreads the remaining money around...... sum is greater than the parts.

Detroit passes, We're not trading homeboy Alex DeBrincat, Especially not for William Nylander who's reportedly seeking between $10,500,000 to $11,000,000 per long term.

Why do the Leafs have a three year window? Leafs are going to spend to the cap....no matter who the players are. Now getting a GM that can get a winning formula is the difficult part.

So if Nylander doesn't resign wit the Leafs, why would Detroit give up DeBrincat hoping to resign DeBrincat. Just keep DeBrincat and sign Nylander as UFA, if both parties are interested.
