I would tell you your offer for Monahan is ridiculous, but I will pass on the Habs fanbase bashing.

That calgary trade though... a retained 1st pairing defenseman for a 2nd? Get out of here.

Monahan is definitely not worth that but this is deadline move. Each year it’s the same old story, which team will be so desperate that they will pay a haul for a specific player to fill a need. Dubas traded for Foligno and it cost a first round and a 4th round. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if the return is higher for Monahan since there not much option at center position this deadline.

Monahan hasn't been all that good for many seasons.

But he’s been good this year so what happened last 4 years doesn’t mather. This is trade deadline. Team will pay the price to fix a need. You might not like Monahan that fine but there a gm somewhere who will pay the price. Monahan is a great 3rd line center who can fit with is cap hit in any team. Team won’t acquired Monahan to become cup contender. Cup contender will acquire Monahan for luxury depth.

He has not been good this year. He's been lucky. Has a very high PDO and his advance stats are awful. For a comparison, Gallagher has much better underlying numbers compared to Monahan

You didn’t watch a single game, what the point of talking to you. Monahan as not been lucky, he’s been good. Gallagher have been use mostly in offensive situation but can’t find the back of the net. Advanced stats are not showing everything and that how we see that you don’t watch hockey other then you Maple Leafs. Each year there players with great advanced stats and face players in playoffs who don’t have those stats but are still superior. If you can’t use those stats in the right manner they arr useless. I remember you had the same speech about Ben Chiarot back then.

That's just completely wrong. All of it. Since advance stats have come into play, the teams that win consistently do so with very good underlying numbers. Teams with bad underlying numbers can find success but it's fleeting. That is because eventually your luck runs out and the randomness of the game evens out. Monahan isn't very good, hasn't been for a long time. He's a 3C at best on a contender and you aren't getting a 1st plus for a 3C. I would maybe use him in TO as the 3C over Domi who is also awful but only if it's a reasonable cost. Like a 3rd round pick. Savard, if he was 50% retained may be worth a 3rd as well. But he's just done.

Then by the deadline will see who is right. It will feel so good again this year to be right again. And just to make thing clear Monahan won’t fetch a top prospect and a first round. But he definitely worth more then that bunch of suspect.

I will say, there are and will always be GM's who do terrible things. Chairot got a first a few years ago. And then got a big contract from Yzerman despite being literally terrible.
