Peeke can't even crack the Columbus line up. When he does, he gets absolutely shelled. He is not worth his cap hit. He should not be a target for the Leafs.

The value is fine for Ferraro but the Leafs need to get bigger and more physical from the back end. And they also need to generate more offense from their D. Ferraro provides neither.

Both adds don't help the Leafs D. And losing Brodie actually makes this D group worse.

A hard no from Edmonton - we can’t afford Brodie. In every sense of that word.

Actually it's addition by subtraction. Subtracting Brodie automatically makes the Leafs D better.

You haven’t watched Ferraro and Peeke.

Peeke has been scratched by the same team that sent down Kent Johnson. They can’t evaluate their players which is why Jarmo is gone at seasons end. Peeke is modern day defensive dman. Perfect partner for Rielly and if you think Peeke won’t be a minute munching dman that can play in the toughest situations then you might as well ask for another 1st round exit.

As for Ferraro why do you think at the world hockey championship he played there and was on their shutdown pair. He’s a defensive minded dman that is physical. Again you don’t watch enough San Jose games.

Just because a player provides bad results on a bad team doesn’t make him a bad player. Look at Benoit who was 1/2 of the worst d pair in the league last year with Klingberg. I wonder why he’s better in Toronto playing top 4 mins. There’s multiple other examples like Patel Zacha, Ramus Ristolanen, Hronek and etc.

Look at how he plays and sees the game and compare it to the analytics.

Brodie has been brutal this year.

His skating has dropped significantly and his stick checking has been dreadful. He’s never been physical and learned to play physical.

Just the mileage caught up to him unfortunately.

Peeke was a -41 last year. I know plus minus isn't a great stat. But minus 41 is shocking.

Ferraro is averaging 1 hit a game and is playing 22 minutes a game. It's not terrible in terms of hitting but it's not a ton.

Benoit is playing 5th or 6th minutes. Not top 4. And he is making league min. He is doing a very serviceable job and I would be very happy with him being our 8th dman.

Like I said, value is fair for Ferraro, but I think that 1st is better spent getting, a physical, defensive RD.

Peeke gets scored on at an alarming rate. If you watch him you'll see that. Ferraro is fine but he's more of what TO already has, a left handed defenceman best suited lower down the lineup. Being a "minute munching top pair defenceman" on the worst team in the league doesn't mean you are going to be an all-star on a good team. It likely means you are just being overused. Which is entirely Ferraro's situation, the dude gets wrecked all the time. He shouldn't be playing as much as he does.

Benoit has been alright for TO but he shouldn't be playing top 4 minutes. The fact he is is a big reason we are 25th in goals against.

Brodie's job playing beside Rielly is bailing him out for his defensive collapses. Peeke, thus far and in top 4 roles, has only ever gotten caved in. He'd essentially just be Lyubushkin 2.0 on this team and is by no means better than Brodie. If you actually look into Peeke's advanced stats he's been brutal playing against top comp when he's beside Werenski. We would be much better off just throwing Benoit or Lagesson on a pairing with Mo and hoping it works out than to trade for an overpaid Peeke.

Ferraro isn't a never seen before physical dman. He's playing loaded minutes on a bad team. He'd essentially be a poor mans McCabe. He doesn't move any needles for this team and certainly isn't worth the asking price of a first.

If you're going to drop a pretty penny on upgrading our D core do it for defenseman that are actually worth it. Not two guys performing terribly on bad teams and hoping they'd do well here.
