…in what world do the Canadiens ever do this? Lane Hutson is one of the best defensive prospects and Mesar could be our future 3C. There’s no way we give up the Flames 1st unless we’re somehow contending next year
Caufield, Jeff902, Dadoudelidou and 1 other person liked this.

I’d do it. Already have an incredibly strong defense core offensively with Mailloux and Reinbacher still on the way. Mailloux can run a PP. Buchnevich is a 30 goal scorer, Neighbors will be a 30 goal scorer. We would be highly competitive as soon as next season after this deal. Suzuki, Caufield and Slaf become the 2nd line with Dach centering Buch and Neighbors on the 1st, drops Newhook to 3c (don’t need Mesar) still have Beck in the fold in case of injury. That 2nd line would dominate if they aren’t the other teams main focus every night, and that 1st line would be possession juggernauts.

Never said I wanted to move Hutson, but he’s our most valuable piece at a position that is already a huge strength and this deal is steep but at the same time as a Habs fan on this website we have to overpay for every deal because all of our players and prospects apparently suck. You could remove the 1st or Mesar and the deal still goes through. Whichever you’d rather do.

I don’t see the need to compete for a cup next year, and that first line isn’t a first line that’s gonna win us a Stanley Cup. No reason to trade an actual first round pick, a prospect picked in the first round a couple years ago, and a prospect that deserved to go in the first round. Especially for Buchnevich, who might not even sign back after next season. Might as well home build our players and if it turns out we could be competitive for 10 years, instead of trading our prospects to win as soon as possible and be good for 4-5.

This is an offseason move. Like I said, you can remove Mesar and the deal probably still works. We’ll be able to talk to Buch camp before making the deal and only make it if we’re somewhere he wants to be long term. Hutson isn’t going to be the difference between being competitive for 4-5 years vs 10. Even if he does become a star which I believe he will. Our defense will be very strong for a long time either way.

This top 6 is lethal and we’ll still be picking top 10 this upcoming draft.

If you want to make it really interesting you could include Guhle instead of Hutson.. Guhle has more value to GM’s around the league anyway. The theme is turning the abundance of defense into offense. This is just one thought. There might be a younger star we could go after instead like a Zegras.

I love Mesar, but the inclusion of Anderson makes it impossible to even consider this. Make one without Anderson, coz that ain't on.

See this guy legit proved my point lmao.

You have to overpay as a Habs fan when making proposals on this website because “Habs players are bad”… Had to include Mesar/ a 1st because they’ll claim it would cost that to move Anderson (obviously not true). That’s how this website works. People make definitive claims about players they’ve never watched or have only seen 2 times out of the 400 games they’ve played.. When in reality if Anderson were a free agent this summer he’d probably get 5 years 5.5 mill lol. Hell St. Louis might’ve even been the team to do it.

They can’t fathom that GM’s and coaches love him even though half the league tried to trade for him when the Habs did and it’s been widely reported by legit people that if the Habs made him available any team that could afford him would want him, none of that matters to them probably because they saw some advanced stats card somewhere that told them not to like him. It’s a common theme. Legit turning down an obvious overpayment simply because Anderson is in the deal. It’s gotten ridiculous lol
