CJ says Nylander is going to get north of 11M

Created by: Brad_Treliving

Initial Creation Date: Jan. 4, 2024

Description
Absolute embarrassing culture Kyle Dubas has left behind in Toronto. My criticism of Nylander is higher now if he signs that contract

CJ confirms what Kypreos is saying and has Nylander north of $11M. Dreger has said the same thing

You probably applauded Treliving for grinding Willy in the off season eh? This is all his own doing. He could have had Willy for less. Dubas signed him for a deal that was one of the best in the league. Treliving sucks

It's pathetic and embarrassing. I wouldn't give $11M+ to a prima donna

Maybe Treliving shouldnt have been such a dummy and signed Nylander to the 9.5 million he would have taken in the off season. What a terrible gm

Dubas paid $6M to a guy that put up 40 points in his first year, now that's an overpayment. Trelivings $8M was justifiable for his 80 point production in the offseason, greedy Nylander and his daddy decided to hold out like a coward. If Dubas didn't give Tavares his overpaid $11M, Marner wouldn't be making the money he is today which wouldn't have fluctuated the other contracts. Embarrassing culture left behind by calculator boy

but i thought Treliving was such a great gm that he'd never allow a guy like Nylander to get over paid! He's so oldschool and bad ass that he'd force nylander to take a massive discount.

what are you talking about? Nylander had 60+ points in both his first two full seasons. Lou blew it by not signing Nylander as soon as he could and treliving is doing the same thing now. These old school gms suck at contracts

You can't change culture all in one season. He fixed one thing which was going soft Dubas hockey to tough gritty Treliving hockey. As for contracts, once the culture was set by Dubas with his overpayment on Tavares and Marner, the rest follows suit. Why would Tre just give up on the season if he is in a playoff spot and why would he let him walk for nothing?

Willy in fact had 61 points in each of his first 2 seasons. And that was with Babcock as the coach. And the rest of what you said is equally wrong

Such a bad GM, cant even get Nylander to take 10 million. He must be super soft and bad at his job that he cant negotiate with a prima donna like Nylander eh? Just embarrassing for him and his fake tough guy image.

Ohh sorry my mistake, after Nylander signed his $6M contract, he put up 27 points BAHAHAHAH (even worse). No blame on Tre for the Nylander contract, calculator boy left this culture the way it is. It will take years and Tre should start by letting Marner walk for nothing

Remember when Dubas tried to find a GM for his Penguins but ultimately failed like he always has. Everyone knows that no one wants to work for him LOL

JT was not an overpay. It was the market at the time. Matthews and Marner were never overpaid either. They are and have always been valuable contracts because of what they can do. What hurt the Leafs was the pandemic keeping the cap down. To deny that is basically being a flat earther. Had the cap gone up the way it was supposed to the leafs would have been able to add more depth in FA. They could have kept Hyman and others. No one saw it coming and the fact that TO remained competitive was a testament to the management of the team not an indictment. Also calculator boy was Pridham who is still with the team. We all get it, you hate Dubas more than you like hockey but this constant attacking him while he's not even with the organization and blaming him for Treliving's bad decisions is silly.

Remember when Treliving took a top 10 defensive team in the NHL and turned them into one of the worst in the span of a single summer and now he cant even negotiate a fair deal with Nylander? and his prize culture change guys have in fact changed the culture for the worse and his longest contract signed cant even make the roster regularly in year one because he's not an NHL player? embarrassing.

Do you remember what happened when Willy came back? Babcock had him on the 4th line for long stretches and refused to play him in the top 6. Bab's was such a bad coach. Matthews would have won a couple more rockets had Bab's been fired sooner.

$11M for 1 playoff series win in NY. Tavares has been hands down one of the softest and worst captains I have ever seen as a Leafs fan. Matthews was drastically overpaid, $11M at the time for 0 playoff series wins? As for Marner, him and his daddy bullied Dubas to the ground on that contract LOL

What about Treliving though? He's awesome in your mind, why has he failed so epically in his negotiations with Willy? Dubas bullied him into giving him too much?

Like I said, culture left behind by Dubas. Lose-lose situation for him. He either keeps Nylander until the end of the season and loses him for nothing or he keeps Nylander and is forced to overpay. I don't think he wants to lose an 80+ point player for nothing or risk the season away

You say a lot of really dumb things but this statement as a whole is definitely the dumbest thing I have ever heard from you. Your idol Lou offered JT the same deal with an extra year of term. I get that you like many refuse to acknowledge any facts that don't fit your opinion but come on. Lou, your idol, signed Marleau to a 3 year 6.5 per year deal when he was 37. This is just silly. I honestly can't tell if you are a troll or just tragically unaware of reality.

Last thing the Core Fore knows about a "team game" is how they would bully Dubas during the contract negotiations

You do know that literally every team (minus the Islanders I bet) have an analytics department. You must be from Sault Ste Marie and Dubas did something to offend you. Just absolutely irrational hate for the man.
