Sprong is on a career pace of 52 points, At least a 2nd and C prospect i'd imagine, And that's if we don't re-sign him which it looks like we could.

If Nashville ends up selling at the deadline, I expect Trenin to be someone a lot of teams are in on, which could cause the price to go up. I would expect a late 2nd or so. Novak probably starts at a 1st unless his production just stops. Again both players that a lot of teams would be interested in if the predators end up selling.

Middlestadt - Good player, but Buffalo has wrecked him. 3rd rounder
Sprong - Detroit can't draft well anyway (except Seider), so let's not waste good picks on them. 4th rounder
Novak and Trenin - 2025 4th rounder - that's for both of them.
Frost - we'll give you Tyler Meyers, no retention
Puustinen - 3rd rounder, but we want a 4th from Pittsburg back.
Zetterlund - SJS players suck. 5th rounder
Kartye - I had to look up who he was. 7th rounder.
Milano - that kid probably has mob connections, definitely a 1st rounder
Appleton - the kid can play and is deperate to leave Winnipeg (like everyone else), 2nd rounder.

seems reasonable imo. van is low on 2nd round picks though so if that is the cost van would likely pass, not because its unfair but just because we dont have the assets

im not sure id do a 1st for novak but i can understand where that value comes from. i would be willing to part with a decent propect for trenin in lieu of a 2nd.

Middlestadt - Good player, but Buffalo has wrecked him. 3rd rounder

mittelstadt has been very good the last 1.5 seasons. he's easily the most expensive player on the list here

The Sabres and Canucks aren't good trade partners. We don't need futures or quantity offers, we need a top 4 right shot d, that can play in his own end. I'd add to mittelstadt to get a guy that makes sense. I look at our roster and see some pretty obvious holes as far as defensive awareness and grit, but I think our gm is fine with trying to fix those holes with bottom of the roster players, he's just gonna offer mittelstadt a contract and be done with it.

you can trade a player for picks and then flip those picks for a top 4 dman.

the canucks literally just did this when they traded horvat then acquired hronek

Funny you should mention that. Hronek is the only player on your roster Buffalo would want in return for Mittelstadt, since Hughes wouldn’t be available. That is what we like to refer to as a hockey trade.

if buff is dead set on a hockey trade then yeah, van is not a good partner.

but i would expect a GM to be more creative than that if they are wanting a dman

Sprong I would say a second. Good production for his cap hit. 100% effort every shift. Young enough to be someone that could stick around for awhile. There may be as desire to extend him in Detroit though. If there isn't a strong payment I hope they do.
