If the Leafs can't get a RHD they want, this trade could likely happen on the Trade Deadline.

I personally find it extremely unlikely Seattle will even consider dealing Larsson at this year's deadline, given everything they've done indicates they are very still gunning for the playoffs both this year and next, and Larsson will play a key role in those efforts. Even in the hypothetical scenario where Seattle seriously listens to offers, it will take quite a bit more on top of the first round pick to interest them.

Add a million to Nylander's contract. Also, I think Bertuzzi can sign for more elsewhere.

Yea pretty close. Always got to keep it in line as Gaudreau's cap % was 11.82% the .2 can add a bit lul.

Also for the comparison should also look at Gaudreau's deal offered by CGY which is basically what Huberdeau got in the end.

11.82% x 87.7m = 10.37m and if we use 12.73% = 11.16m

If we use Pastranak

13.64% = 11.96m (Yea not happening lul)

So between 10.37-11.16m is what hes gonna get

If we meet in the middle 10.765m

Marner wasnt overpaid though look at the market value 13.3m rn

And nobody was saying Marner was gonna get less when multiple reports came out saying Leafs had multiple offers on the table but Marner didnt want max term.

"Market value" has no meaning. Look at his comparables across the league at the time he signed that contract as a RFA. 11 million was a massive overpayment. He's worth that now, not then.

Actually it does lul

If we look today many players are getting paid either less than the value due to it being impossible to get them there (Matthews, MacKinnon, and McDavid) and others are making less

Market value is there to show how much a player should be actually be making in comparison to their level of play and other factors. Rantanen for instance has a market value of 11.5m and Willy 10.98m

Marner was offered 13m by 2 different teams aligning with the current value MV has for him. He took less to stay. As we have seen hes grown into a very good 2-way player and has earned his money. Last year especially finishing in top 3 in Selke votes behind Bergeron.

Marner aint overpaid lul. But hey think what you want lul

Aho of Carolina and Marner had identical stats for two straight years before they signed their first RFA contract, the same summer Aho 8.45m X 5 (remember the offer sheet). Marner 11m X 6.
Now the extra year might be worth 500,000. So Marner should have got 9m X 6. He was overpaid by 2m. Even Matthews when he signed for 11.6m...no way was the second best player in the league, though I think his next contract at 13.4 is good for the Leafs. Yep, I think Dubas got rolled big time with Marner especially.

If Marner was offered 9m x 6 years he would not be a leaf that would be an underpay considering Rantenan had less points and got 9.25m

Not a great look as he got OS by CBJ and NYI for 12.5 and 13m respectively

The 11m was Toronto but on 8 years which he turned down

Dreger also mentioned it along with NYI, and CBJ reporters

They were willing to pay that man big

12.5 x 8 years was NYI, 13M x 8 years was CBJ

It was rumour of an offer sheet. Was he really offered that for that???? And please no nonsense cause a media guy reported it. Gee, Marner sure was taking a chance so he didn't sign till September, and by that time, gotta believe any offer sheet was off the table as other teams would have filled their rosters with that cap.

There was no rumour Marner and his agent (Darren Ferris) confirmed it happened lul.

https://www.bardown.com/according-to-his-agent-mitch-marner-was-presented-with-2-offer-sheets-before-signing-with-the-leafs-1.1366403

Marner even eluded to it in an interview not going into specifics but never denied he was OS.

And we know it was NYI and CBJ per the reports coming out. Wild were circling but they wanted to trade not OS.

As lets be real Leafs would not have given him 10.893m if the OS werent in the high 11-13m range

If teams were offering him less they would match and move on

But yea CBJ was willing to move on from 4 1sts along with NYI and per the OS rules the deal would have had to be above 10m at the time

In general there's a big thing for this so for those who go he should get more

Pasta's 5 seasons prior to signing (including the one he signed during): 338 GP 207G (5th) 414 P (6th), Rocket Richard, Hart finalist, 2X 1st NHL All-star team, paced at over 40G 3x, over 50G 2x, over 60G 1x and over 100P 3x

Nylander's previous 5 seasons including this one: 318 GP 141G (13th) 319P (20th), no individual hardware, paced at over 40G 2x, 50G 0x, 60G 0x, over 100P 1x

Willy should not be making anything close as Pasta basically is the step above. This is contract year Willy. Idk if hes gonna repeat this but yea he should be 10.5m

Anyways its a wait and see

Pasta is a complete player that is very physical as well. They aren't even close in comparison. Pasta gave Boston a discount because players love to play in a winning atmosphere.

In general wouldnt call it a full on discount considering Marchand and Bergeron set the tone for those. Its good but he still became the highest paid RW in the NHL

If he did full on discount probs would have did 10.5m

The Gaudreau comparable is uncanny imo. Too perfect to not be the comparable
