Caps TDL modest returns

Created by: markykins1
Team: 2023-24 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 8, 2024

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Saw an article that said they would be adding, yeah that's a front. I predict they will end up sellers and these would be the returns. I think the Caps should also try to sell Jensen and find players with more size that can take their place. I don't get why Bmac is adding mini mites to the defense lately...

Idk what sandin’s value is, but sharks are not buyers. And definitely wont part with any premium assets

Mantha would at least get a 2nd with money eaten.

No way in hell are they trading Sandin and if they were it wouldn't be for a 2nd.

And if you are trading at the deadline Pac and probably one of TvR or Jensen.

Caps aren't trading Sandin anyways.

Absolutely not on Mantha. If you are selling, maybe Lindgren as goalie depth. That is the only player the Caps would move that would interest the Canes.

Yeah, he could go to many teams but I figure he's a young developing LHD who could fit into their rebuild anyway. wink

We already have Thrun, Mukhamadulin, Ferraro (Kinda?), and Okhotiouk and then also Vlassic who is regressing

Sandin is a mini mite and will be a jensen clone and needs to go. Hope they move both TVR and Jensen I agree. Patches was promised not to be traded, that was one of the reasons he signed with the Caps so he won't be moved out. I read that long ago when he was signed. I guess he and Bmac have a verbal agreement there.

Sandin isn't going anywhere, and I'd hope to god we got at least a 3rd for Edmundson, considering we gave up a 3rd and 7th.

I think it's a small price for secondary scoring in the playoffs...It's only a 3rd and it's not like he has term.

Sandin is freakn great and is going to be so good for this team for a long time. A little rough this season but that's mainly because he's been paired with Jensen.

Think you read that Patches report incorrectly. No way he said that. If we get to the trade deadline and we're out it's highly doubtful he'll just want to go down with the ship when he can go compete for a Cup somewhere.

Ahh yes, Mantha noted playoff goal scorer. Zero goals in 11 games.

I would think that a return on him would naturally diminish so I wouldn't sweat the difference.

You'd be renting this year's version which is pretty good so far and for a measly two month playoff run. Hardly a big risk for the Hurricanes.

Mantha is not where the canes would spend draft assets, nor (more importantly) their only available cap space. He’d play fourth line mins and might even be scratched in Carolina.

He'd be nice depth for the playoffs. He would fit right in on that big body Jets team too!

Edmundson and NAK make sense and I would add Pacioretty to that group as well (5th or later retained 50%). Mantha I think you could hold out for a bit more and honestly if I don't get at least a 2nd for him I'm keeping and trying to re-sign. He's been legitimately great this year, probably their 3rd best forward, and has really eliminated a lot of the negative things about his game. With Sandin, even if you're not convinced he's ever going to be a real top player (and trust me I'm not!) I just don't get why you move him a year after you got him for less than what you paid, especially when he's an RFA and hasn't justified a huge-money extension. Only reason I would move him is if its in a package for a better young player.

The players I think they really should be moving this year are the guys with another year left -- Dowd and Lindgren especially. They're both having great years and are the kinds of players teams love to overpay for. I legitimately think you could get a 1st for Dowd and a 2nd for Lindgren. Move them now to maximize that return.

You bring up some pretty good points but I would be terrified of a Mantha extension and if a 2 nd is available at TDL, I think they move him.
As for Lindgren and Dowd, I would move them for those picks yes but I don’t believe it will happen. Both are playing great you are right.

Idk I think you could probably get a Mantha extension for like 4x4? Maybe even less tbh
