Trading Pettersson would be a severe mistake for the Penguins. Replacing him with the exact opposite kind of defenseman and crippling your already light forward depth to do so (to the point that Drew O'Connor is the best 2nd line option remaining) would only compound the mistake.
Penguins defense is fine (at least, it's fine enough that it's probably not worth it to try to change the makeup at the trade deadline). Pens need to prioritize bottom six help at the deadline, which is good considering the minimal assets they have available to them.
