What Next
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BadaBing</b></div><div>I wouldn`t consider Riley a mild asset. He still has to prove himself at the NHL level. He is a solid prospect
Struble is also an excellent prospect. He will be a solid NHL D in a couple of years.
And not to mention that CAT was sold for a lot less.</div></div>
Riley and Strubble both don,t make the top 3 of the habs prospect pool in their respective position in a pool that already lack of star potential. They are certainly not bad prosepect but can't be the main piece in trade for a player the age and caliber of Keller.
Also the Debrincat situation is not good comparison since he clearly wasn't in sens future plan and that they actively try to shop him where it's not the case with the yotes and Keller. Also, he's already signed long term on a good deal.

What Next
You need a big asset to get a young star like Keller. It's about quality not quantity. Throwing all the mild assets the habs don't need to get what would instantly be the best player in the team should ring a bell.

I don't see them moving both the 14th and Pickering for him only.

You are not getting that much for 1 year of him. Goalies always go for a bit less than expected especially if this is not a trade and sign.

better team yes, but with age alreadfy an issue -orlov for 6 years is really insane
And trading your best two prospects and a 2nd for a UFA to be goalie?</div></div>
No point in getting younger if you are not getting better this team is done 2-3 years max. Let's not try to stay mid for 6 more years.
Also I think that you overvalue Poulin. He is not a top 3 prospect in 30 of 32 team in this league. That is still one of the best goalie in the league, you are not getting him for a bag of puck.

Pens got too much waiver-required players for that to happen, but they will both probably see ice time in the NHL this year when the injuries come.
Also, I would see O'connor making the team before both.

Pens need a real 3rd line
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PGHBOB69</b></div><div>Lol..that’s what it’s gonna be though. But JR was Quoted as saying, this year the 3rd pairing will play real 3rd pairing minutes. Unlike last year where J.Johnson/Shultz still played 15-20 minutes a game. It was crazy!! We will see what Sully does but they should only be playing 8-14 minutes a game.
And Matheson still is only 26. Still young, and Fast. And I’m sure FLA Panthers, misused him alot too.Toronto definitely misused Ceci. Trying to have him be a top Pairing and play 20 minutes a night. They both should get sheltered minutes. And it’s a Ruthwedel/Ceci platoon right now, from what was said. But we’ll see. J.Maniacalco could win that RHD. I think Matheson will have that LHD spot though. It’s very unlikely PO-Joseph wins the 3rd pairing LHD spot. Just b/c of Matheson salary and the Pens traded Hornqvist for him.
And I’ll still put our top 6 forwards and top 4 D against any other teams.</div></div>
Exactly what I think. I see the 3rd line as the only problem with this team. With a good 3C like Haula and good performance from Jarry, this team as a really good shot at the cup. But I don't think GMJR will look for a 3C wich is a big problem for me. I think this team has a 2 years window (because of contracts) and GMJR should not slow down.

It's a rental that a lot of team will be willing to pay the price at the trade deadline ! Also with Gudbranson gone and if galchenyuk is not re-sign Pitts will have the space to sign Hall. (maybe also trade bjudstad and give the 3C to mccan to had more cap space)
