I don't know why the Caps do this, but Tre shakes your hand before you think twice

How bout this year's 3rd for Lindgren? The extra yr basically makes it a 3rd.

These all look like very fair returns and I would be very happy with this deadline. Only other thing for me would be to move Pacioretty for whatever you get, even if its FC -- he's earned the right to get a shot with a contender.

This is a pretty outdated take. Mantha has been fantastic this season. At 50% retained, you're getting a guy on pace for 45 points, over 20 goals, for 2.85M. Then you let him walk. For a team that seems to want to contend, this would be a great add. Nothing about Mantha is a "problem" anymore.

His production isn't the problem. He's a defensive liability, his contract is tragic (even at 50% retained, it's not great) and the Canes have what 5 better wingers already? Bunting's on pace for50+ points, Jarvis, Teravainen, Necas, Svechnikov... he's your problem

I don't get it. I understand moving Mantha as a rental if the team is out of it, and moving TvR and Edmunson because we have a glut of third pairing defensemen. But why would we trade our best goalie and one of the best 4th line centers in the game when their combined cap hit is under $2.5 mil for one more year, with no real options to replace either, both for late 2nd round picks, and why would we bring back Samsonov, who sucks?

It wasn't last year either. Mantha had great underlyings.

Defensively he was okay for sure, but he was a non-option offensively. Now he’s pretty good on both sides of the puck.

I happily would move Jensen for a 2nd and 4th OR 3rd and 4th - no salary retention.
