Description
Well this is rare haha. Still weird that Briere said at the draft Gauthier was pumped to be a flyer then in that year flipped turned upside down. I know people are saying Torts but he was hired before the draft. Bizarre.

Had flyers known I would bet everything they take Jiricek. Such a shame getting blindsided like that

Flyers should have taken Jiricek anyway. I was at the Jackets' draft party and you cannot imagine the absolute roar of celebration that went up in the crowd when the Flyers said "Cutter." It was at Pins, an enormous local bar-cade that is all smooth concrete with horrible acoustics and probably around 3000-3500 people there.

What do you think Tippet is worth in a trade? What would you want?

Jiricek was the most logical pick at the time because Flyers had no good RD prospect and a lot of people including me were unhappy after fletcher took Gauthier instead. Fletcher is a gift that just keeps on giving even after being fired lmao.

That's a package I would say Vancouver would be interested in and the price seems fairly accurate. I don't think Vancouver could make the cap work though unless they moved an additional piece(s), and I don't think they would be overly happy about moving Suter. How about pull Suter and Hathaway?

As hilarious as this is for me, I’m not a fan of the refusing to play for the team that drafted you crap.

Yeah, it was stunning at the time. Jackets fans were totally resigned to Cutter or Savoie because Fletcher taking Jiricek seemed so obvious. Montreal taking Slaf really caused that top ten to be thrown into chaos, because if they don't NJ almsot certainly takes him instead of Nemec. Arizona was taking Cooley no matter what, and would have even if they'd won one of the lottery spots. But with Seattle it gets interesting. If Montreal indeed took Wright at one as expected, then Seattle has their choice of RD or C or trading down, and I wonder if Columbus's 6 and 12 looks real attractive at that point with both Cooley and Wright off the board. Columbus's "behind the battle" episode about that draft shows John Davidson grinning and saying "We got our guy" when Philly took Cutter, so Jiricek was obviously their target all along, and we also know they offered to bundle both picks to move up but found no takers. This leaves Philly with the choice of Cutter or Nemec, and I wonder if they go Nemec instead.

If Nemec would have been available Fletcher would have still chosen Gauthier because that would have been the more Fletcher type move that he could have made lmao. In the end it actually kinda worked out because they got Drysdale for him who is an RD, but there is a bit of a risk with his injury history.

Canucks are not doing a trade with Philly.
Philly should keep Konecny and Hathaway.
