Prepare to hear from the one Ducks fan who'll say "The only way you're getting Zegras is if it starts with your 3 top prospects and your first born son." 🙄

bruh idk what else to add bc i refuse to add leonard considering the fact that him and stevenson are literally the future of the franchise.tears of joy McMichael and Cristall are already in our top 5 prospect/young player pool.

As a Caps team on the cusp of rebuilding in a year or two I say stay away from these kind of trades. Don't know what it is but Zegras seems to have some bad ju ju and don't want to take on a guy who is trending in the Dubois direction.

honestly, i dont think the caps are gonna do a rebuild. Most of our core is young enough to last us 5-10 years and the caps would probably just choose to replace(via trade) the vets that are choosing to retire. after ovi retires i could see them doing a retool just to stay sorta competitive.

I see your point. I just hope they stay the course.

I know Bmac had said they have been looking for a top 6 forward to add but they need to do that in free agency and if they can't, don't trade these guys who are the few promising young forwards we have. McMichael is playing really really good, he has surprised me. Cristall is killing it right now and just needs to mature and work on his skating to be a top 6 forward in 2 to 3 years. I contend that this years 1st rounder will be in the top 10 so they should want to make that pick.

Agree with everything but this years first rounder being in the top 10. The caps are trying to stay competitive during ovis last couple of years, the only way our pick ends up in the top 10 is if we tank.

Leonard is exactly the player the delusional Ducks fan will ask for plus more. He thinks Zegras will get the Ducks Seider from Detroit. 🙄

I like Zegras but he's pretty overrated. He isn't much different from Kuzy. I'll take him because a Miro-Zegras-Leonard line would be nasty but I'm not paying all of that. I know ANA won't accept less but I'm just not paying that much.

bruh, i didn't pick chicago in specific. Any team can take him, the hawks were just a place holder. i made sure to specify that as well

I get that and you did well spelling it out but Chicago still fails under any team so I'm just taking them off the list of potential teams with interest in acquiring him.

Chicago fans really love posting "Chi says no" even though the trade says any team lolol

Caps would just put him through waivers anyways - wouldn't trade him because he'd have no return

Agreed - would never do this. Zegras is just a younger version of Kuzy imo

McMichael has gotta be near untouchable at this point imo. Unless it’s a major overpay

That's probably one of the best offers made on this site for Zegras. Gotta think the Ducks accept that.

McMichael is the same age as Zegras and having a much better year ...

I really don't get the Zegras love. Best case scenario he becomes prime Kuzy (which admittedly is very very good) but worst case scenario -- and how he's been playing this year -- he is just current day Kuzy. People always expect young players to linearly get better every year just because they're young (Caps fans are incredibly guilty of this, especially with McM and Protas) but sometimes they stall out or even regress. Think about how high the expectations were for Domi, Drouin, Boeser, Duclair, even D Strome after their first 2 seasons in the league and the paths their careers have taken since

Basically, this is a package I would expect gets you a bona-fide top line play driver -- just look at the Hertl and Horvat deals recently. Zegras isn't that yet and I have lots of doubts he ever will be.

Don't underestimate what the injury bug has done to the Caps the last few years. Also, with a current meh Ovechkin, Oshie, Carlson, and a very soft defense, the Caps could fall out and into the top 10 quicker than you think.
