Jenner Perry and Tanev years 2

Created by: TMLBRIAN
Team: 2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 12, 2024
Published: Jan. 12, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I am well aware that the likelihood of Jenner being moved is minimal. It won't be 0% chance he is moved but low. And I can see them wanting more than this package as well.

Minten and Cowan can be replaced with guys like Holmberg and Steeves if they don't make the team.

Overall this team looks quite good. I would miss Bert and Domi though but somethings gotta give.

Thoughts?

Not really the return we’d be looking for IF cbj were to move jenner. This is way light.

Fair enough.

I am quite high on Robertson though. I can see him easily being a 25+ goal scorer and 50-60 pt guy, given the right opportunity. Columbus would need to see that potential also, to pull the trigger on this deal.

I assume they would ask for Minten though. I view Jenner being Mintens #1 comparable long term. So Columbus gets a potential future Jenner type back in the deal.

No roster space currently or in the future for Robertson. Jackets roster and AHL team is already filled with similar players as Robertson

Yeah I just don’t see that happening on the blue jackets. We have plenty of players like him so it wouldn’t be a fit.

Robertson is not worth much in a trade. Probably equal to a 3rd round pick. Hes injury prone and small.

It would take a massive overpay to pry Jenner from the Jackets. Probably would be Knies, although i know Leafs fans would say that ridiculous and of course they wouldnt do that, which is exactly how we feel about trading Jenner.

2026 1st doesn’t help Calgary at all. They should get better offers for a Tanev retained. Giving up a high 3rd this year too kind of makes this everything the Leafs want without considering Calgarys needs. Absolute Homer proposal and this has no chance of being the best offer.

I don't really understand CBJ fans... It's clearly not working, why do you want to hold on to Jenner so bad?

Because the offense isn't the problem? They're top five in the league in 5v5 goals scored. The problem is the defense and goaltending (and totally overmatched rookie coach). Jenner is basically at the bottom of the list of reasons why the Blue Jackets suck.

I appreciate that this is at least a realistic Jenner trade from the Leafs, so serious kudos to you for that.

This this EXACTLY. If we're going to trade our captain/current 1C for a team that doesn't have many NHL centers or leaders, we need to get something back that has the actual potential to replace that long-term. We'd be asking for Minten or Cowan and a 1st, probably a 2nd too but it depends on what other teams would be willing to offer. If he became available, there would be a huge market.

Again, on a site that's full of "Jenner for Robertson and Brodie" trades, thanks for at least considering Columbus' perspective and being realistic. That's a breath of fresh air.

They're 19th in the league in GF. Probably worse when you consider some teams behind them have games in hand. Offence may not be the problem but it's not like they are dynamos.
