Yes i know MTL, obviously won’t want to trade with TO, however… MTL isn’t competing soon and Savard is older, it’s not like Savard is gonna be out there against the habs in any meaningful games.

he is defitnly not untouchable, but i dont that woukd quite the offer they are looking for. not that its a bad offer, but we are already having not enough roster spot for our players, dont think having 3 palyers back is what they would want.

I agree with this.

Montreal have a ton of dman and forward prospects. They need to start creating room for them.

I think picks would be their #1 ask for any of their guys. Or very high end prospects.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them trade away some of their solid prospects and picks for a true young star or 2 at some point.

I also don't love this trade for the Leafs. I am quite high on Robertson. Savard is a warrior but the Leafs need a true top 3 dman. I would say Savard right now would be a beast of a #5. I wouldn't pay the price tag for him. Even though he would be a very nice addition to our bottom pair.

I agree with everything you have said here, the issue is Hughes has said that the goal next season is to make the playoffs. For that reason alone, I am not sure if Hughes would sell the last year of Savard's contract. I mean it is a realistic goal (making the playoffs) since the team is only a few points out and would be infinitely better without all these injuries.

I assume that if Hughes can get something around a 1st for Savard he would do it. I would then assume he would look at moving those 1sts for a really good young player. Whether it is on D or on Forward.

He could very well keep Savard for the reason you mentioned but I assume he will trade him.

Time will tell though! Montreal are in a pretty good spot. A ton of picks and a ton of very solid prospects. They are just missing true super star talent.

I am curious to see how Hughes will get that super star talent. If he does, this team will be a PROBLEM for many years.

Are you asking or are you telling us he's available?

If you're asking, he's not for less than a 1st+.

I only care about what real GMs say, not other guys around here.

And the best gm of the league was happy to pay a 1st+3rd to get him for half a year, and got rewarded with a cup.

sure but that was Savard in his prime, everyone was willing to pay that. He’s no longer at that. no team in the league is paying a first.

He isn’t. He had bad stats last year but he is pretty dang good this year. Everyone that actually watch him says that he is good. Analyst from all over the hockey world says he is good.

Advanced stats aren’t always accurate in all sports. For example, Patrick Kane is worst than 90% of the players in the league, Adam Pelech is an elite offensive D and even Savard is in the top tier offensively in the league.

He cost a second and a good prospect to acquire

Not gonna waste my time here. He's as good as he ever been and we will gladly keep him if we don't get the right price. You can stop bringing up getting him for cheap now.

EVERYBODY in Montreal loves him. I don't care about your generic comment.
