Question for Habs Fans

Created by: Juice
Team: 2023-24 Toronto Maple Leafs

Description
A fair bit of chatter around Monahan given he's a pending UFA but wondering how the fan base views the trade value of Monahan vs Evans. Who would you expect a bigger return from.

I'd think Evans would be a solid 3C for a contending team so more interested in a price check on him. Doesn't have to be a return from a Leafs trade...just in general

Monahan : for any team, a first. For Toronto, a first and a prospect

Evans : for any team, a third and a fourth (but even then I don’t know if we trade him due to our lack of C and he is pretty much the perfect 4c). For Toronto, a second

Im expeccting a bigger return for Monahan, something like a 2nd and a decent prospect or a 1rst and a 5th

As for Evans, I really like him but he would be much more of a 4th liner and pk guy on a contender. He is way better than what advanced stats say.

Since we dont HAVE to trade him, Id want a low 2nd or a hight 3rd round pick

would take a kulak type of return to get evans out of mtl. he’s very reliable and he never makes mistakes. pretty much the perfect 4th liner. Could try to bump him up on the 3rd line with good wingers ( not like armia pezzetta or pearson ) and he will do the work just fine. would like to keep him around but won’t be a huge lose if we trade him. who knows, we might get a Hutson 2.0 with the 2nd rounder we will get for him😉 let’s not forget that kulak got us Hutson

I'll say a first for Monahan but Leafs has a tax because they are in the same division. So add a prospect.
Evans is not on the trade block. The only reason why we would trade him is if someone really overpay his value.

For evans i would say the main thing they need back is a centre.

Doesnt have to be a good centre it can be a guy on the cusp who maybe just needs a reall opportunity to play more than 7-8 mins he has gotten so far.

Something in the vein (i know they are not a leaf) alex turcotte, rasmus kupari etc. A 22-23 centre who just isnt going to get that top 9 c chance on their current team.

That would be more desirable than say a 3rd rounder

Id be down to have him on the 3rd line if we had good wingers, but we dont have many of those. Unfortunatly, our only wingers that havent beeb underperforming or arent playing like **** are Slaf and Ylonen

The targets be odd as basically

Evans is a 700k cheaper Kampf

And I dont see Monahan being a prime upgrade over Domi.

Was honestly thinking this was for Savard but we know how some view him

Nope...just prefer to get the perspective from home fans on where they value their own guys. They watch them more closely and have a better sense of how important they are to the roster and what it would take to entire a player away which is much more informative to me than trying to generate a trade and the focus being on if that offer is fair or if they don't want player 'x', etc.

Lots of good people and input in the forums
