McTavish and Carlsson are as untouchable as it gets.

Understood. I was just thinking: Gauthier has more size than McT and Zegras has more skill than McT. If you trade one, he might be the odd man out.

But yeah, I wouldn't move him if he was on my team!

In their young careers, Zegras has been a bigger offensive threat than McT, right? I'm just asking, if there's a willingness to trade Zegras for "the right price", why not McT instead?

Gauthier is going to be a winger in Anaheim, probably on Leo's left side. We're also set up for Zegras to be a winger on McTavish's left side, and Terry on the right of that line.

I second, McTavish and Leo are the two most untouchable assets on the Ducks.

Because McTavish is the kind of player Verbeek covets as a center. That's why he's at center, and Zegras is currently on the wing. There's plenty of RHD available this draft as well that we can look at, or we can try to swing a Dougie Hamilton move.

Appreciate the discussion. We'll see about the depth of this draft, not as hopeful as 2023 or 2025. Outside of Celebrini, I think it's not dissimilar from 2021-22 when when the Habs picked up Slaf.

There isnt a better defenceman than Reinbacher on the right in this 2024 draft. They are maybe a half dozen options in the top10 but all come with warts and question marks. The Habs were correct to reject the Gauthier deal and take Reinbacher.
You cant trade for that kid's potential as a 6'3" puck moving, intelligent, smooth skating top pair once he hits the league.

I don’t think the top end is as high and some drafts but I think that the 2nd tier of guys lasts a lot longer than previous drafts

Makes sense. Meaning not much difference between pick 12 and pick 25?
