  1. Mittelstadt, Casey
Additional Details:
My favourite option.

Has been great the last 2 seasons and is a pending RFA with arb rights. Could fit in longterm or for just the next few seasons that the Jets are contenders. Feels like the ideal fit to play with Perfetti and one of Connor or Ehlers on the 2nd line. He is a great playmaker that isn't terrible defensively. His addition would push Vlad down the lineup and create even more depth.

Next contract would probably be in the 4M range on a short-mid term deal.

WPG
  1. Lindholm, Elias
Additional Details:
The flashy option at this year's TDL. IMO not the best fit for the Jets in terms of the future. As a rental, this is about as good as you will get at this years deadline but will have to compete with the teams that want to sign him long-term. The Jets just cant afford to give him the 8 years and 8M+ that he is looking for.

With other teams willing to give him an extension I would try to stay away as it will probably cost a Horvat type package (1st, top prospect, roster player) and the Jets just cant do that right now when there are other options.

Now if the price is reasonable then I would go for it. Lindholm is a top 20ish centre in the league imo and would make a top-end one-two punch down the middle of the ice. The jets would essentially have two first lines with Scheifele, Vilardi, Ehlers, Lindholm, Perfetti, and Connor in the top 6.

  1. Jenner, Boone
Additional Details:
Jus thought of Jenner. Not sure CBJ would move their captain but they have done it before (Foglino).

Great defensive centre that showed some offensive flashes befoe he got injured. Think he would fit the Bowness system well. Almost like a more offensive Adam Lowry. From what I've heard is a great leader ing the locker room. Seems like an interesting 2C option for the Jets
CBJ

WPG
  1. Eriksson Ek, Joel
Additional Details:
Not going to happen but I can dream.

There is zero chance a division rival trades their young stud centre to the Jets and especially after those back to back games against the Wild in december.

Although it wont happen he would be an incredible fit on the second line behind Scheifele. He has found his offensive ability over the past couple of seasons. Once again fits the Bowness system well. Great defensively and gives the Jets another option on their struggling PK and would be a boost to the PP2.
MIN

WPG
  1. Monahan, Sean
Additional Details:
This has been speculated and the Jets did have 2 scouts at a recent Habs/Sharks game however... this just desnt make any sense.

It would make us deeper however I believe with the way Namestnikov has been playing this isnt enough of an upgrade to push Vlad down the lineup. He just isn't the same player as he was playing with Johnny Hockey in Calgary.
MTL
6.
WPG
  1. Giroux, Claude
Additional Details:
If the Jets can convince Giroux to leave Ottawa for 2 shots at the cup, he would be a great fit on the second line.

Not exactly a centre however he is a beast in the dot and could take draws while letting Perfetti play up the middle. Giroux is great defensively and an unreal passer which would give the second line a new look with both Giroux and Perfetti feeding a Connor or an Ehlers. Giroux isn't going to fill the net anymore although he is still an elite passer and defensive forward that can be a great mentor for Perfetti.
OTT
7.
WPG
  1. Couturier, Sean
Additional Details:
This has been talked about on Jets twitter the past couple weeks however I think it is too big of a risk.

Couturier is a great player and fits exactly what the Jets should be looking for to fill the 2C whole however it is extreamly risky, Couturier is playing games for the first time in years and is always injury-prone. For a guy with that injury history and contract, I would stay clear of him. And with the cap hit of almost 8M the Jets would need some retention which will bring the price up. Overall just stay clear of Couturier,
PHI
8.
WPG
  1. Crosby, Sidney
Additional Details:
Never ever getting moved but was suggested by Winnipeg Free Press Jets writer Jeff Hamilton. It would be unreal to have Crosby play for the Jets but will never happen.
PIT
9.
WPG
  1. Hertl, Tomas
Additional Details:
Once again... would be a great add but the contract is too crazy and long for a 2C. Great player but there are cheaper options out there.
SJS
10.
WPG
  1. Buchnevich, Pavel
Additional Details:
Again not really a centre but can play up the middle. Don't imagine it costing too much but would be an amazing fit. He is incredible defensively and drives play like some of the best players on the planet.

Have been wanting him on the Jets for a few years now and this is the year to do it. STL is going to sell and Buch fits now and next year on the 2nd line. Feels like the Nino add from last year. Probably can get him for a reasonable price.
STL
11.
WPG
  1. Strome, Dylan
Additional Details:
Decent fit for the 2C spot and is signed with term so would be here for the next 2 or 3 cup runs. Dont think he will be moved but WSH always does some weird things and the Jets have the assets to acquire him.

Once again another playmaker up the middle that isn't that bad defensively. Feel like playing for Bowness could do wonders for his game and could turn him into the player that the Coyotes thought they were getting 9 years ago.

I would imagine locking him up long term is the most likely outcome, but if the Sabres decide to move him, I hope they let Winnipeg know.

I'm not saying the ask is off, but the problem is that the Jets can't afford to give up a top 4 RHD. They'd be looking to add depth, so if it couldn't be done for pure futures, it likely couldn't be done.

I don’t see any reason we’d want “futures” for Mitts
Even though we likely miss the playoffs, we’re still in “win now” mode imo

It is possible that a multi piece deal could happen
Something like Mitts + one of our RD we wanna improve on,
say Erik Johnson for example

But I’m just spitballing there

Setting aside that I have no idea how you determined the Blues will doa teardown sell-off (they ain't), I would loooove to hear what you imagine is a reasonable price for the Blues handing Buch to a division rival. Pretty please.

Yeah, the Jets just really have no reason to do that much tampering with a lineup that is playing pretty well.

Some minor pieces like a Stanley or something could move, but there's not much chance they move any of the current top 9 or starting D.

Move Monahan to the bottom of the list

I'm afraid to do that, lol.. Have you seen the status that the Mtl supporters have for Monahan. We need to give up a 1st and a third pick from this years draft to start discussion in a potential trade.

You’ll most likely have to look elsewhere then imo

Personally, I wouldn’t acquire Monahan at all, regardless… he just isn’t a fit and isn’t a 2C

It would have to be Salomonsson coming back then. The Sabres only need is RD

I can understand the ask, but the Jets need RHD as well, so that may not work. I guess it would come down to what the Jets think they need more.

A Jenner move would be preceded by firing Jarmo and JD, possibly Paz, and moving at least 2 other players first. That would be the ultimate white-flag, "what we've built isn't working". Not saying it's impossible...but the indicator species isn't there to suggest he's even available.

The realistic options are probably Monahan and Lindholm, but both are pricey. Giroux would be awesome, but he's probably one of only a handful of Ottawa players they aren't looking at the market on.
