I like Foegele, I like Ned, and I’m paying to dump vanacek

Not to slander Guentzel, but who do you think he is to think he's worth two 1sts, 3 quality prospects, & a roster player? That feels like an absolutely absurd amount.

1) 2 late 1st round picks
2) POJ is barely worth less than broberg
3) foegle and/or Kulikov would need to be traded cap wise for any EDM buying
4) retention adds value in any deal
5) lavoie and Holloway are not worth what they once were just a few seasons ago
6) Guentzel will most likely be the top option on the deadline market

Do you believe that this team can win a cup with its defensive issues, lack of depth scoring, streaky track record, and lack of defensive depth. If you can’t win a cup I don’t see why you should extend Guentzel to around a 6x8M and ruin this team cap wise even further when you could turn the future of this incredibly old team around…just my opinion🤷🏻‍♂️. Heck you may be able to make a playoff/cup push with a real old Sid on the 3rd or 4th line in the future lol

Anyone who makes the playoffs can contend. This team is 6th in goals against per game, while being top 10 in goals for and goals against per game at 5v5. They are literally just missing a depth piece and a functional power play. Selling with the core still on the roster shouldn't be discussed unless you are willing to sell it all.

Are you aware of any comparable deadline deals to this? I have no recollection of a deadline deal THIS big for what it ostensibly 1 player. To respond to your points:

1.) It's still 2 1sts of the type that are always traded at the deadline so their value relative to other deadline deals remain the same.
2.) Being 2 years younger and similar level of player (I'd say Broberg has stiffer competition above him) while also being waiver exempt means he has more value.
3.) Firstly, no. Upgrades can be found and fit at quite a range of cap hits that wouldn't require trading Foegele or Kulak. Secondly, even if I grant you that, it doesn't mean they don't have value to EDM.
4.) Yes, but how much isn't clear.
5.) Sure, but they're still quality prospects. Not sure how you value Poulin but I'd say his value will likely be in-range of Lavoie's (a case could be made for higher, but I'll give a charitable assumption). Holloway ought to have a good bit more (may be biased on my part, but I like what I've seen from him).
6.) Sure. However, I think you've misidentified EDM's deadline priorities.

Eichel-tuch, an ex 1st round prospect, a first, and a 2nd (had injury issues so trade value was even lower)
Hall-an ex 1st prospect, 2 mid tier prospects, a 1st and 3rd
Duchene- 2 1sts, an ex 1st round prospect, a mid tier prospect, and another player
Karlsson-DeMelo, tierney, Balcers, Norris, 2 1sts, and 2 2nds
O Reilly-Tage, Sobotka, Berglund, a 1st, and a 2nd
Duchene again-Hammond, bowers, Girard, Kamenev, a 1st, a 2nd, and a 3rd
Schenn-2 firsts and Lehtera

All in the last half decade

Also broberg is certainly a better prospect to POJ, however EDM is obviously trying to trade him and they haven’t found a buyer so his value is definitely low on the market. Poulin has stalled out developmentally, I would say Lavoie is a better prospect, and how else can you free up the necessary 3M if they were to acquire Guentzel?

I don't think it's fair to use Jones & Karlsson as comparisons for a variety of reasons (high-end RD are perhaps the single most valuable position)
Similar goes for Eichel as he was a genuinely elite #1C with term (injury concerns also complicate that matter)
ROR was an offseason trade and also featured a high-end C w/ term as the centerpiece
The 2nd Duchene trade you mentioned is also more complicated as it involves them flipping Turris for Girard, Kamenev, & the 2nd (not quite a 1-to-1 comparison)
Schenn was an offseason trade involving a 2 year cap dump of Jori Lehtera at 4.7mil per year

I'll grant you the Duchene to CBS trade as a solid comparable despite Duchene also being a C, but I don't see most of those as comparable and I still don't see it as equivalent to the package you proposed. Abramov & Davidson were fully un-tested at the NA Pro-level and would have similar value to Lavoie. So, that's 2 Lavoies & 2 1sts for a Guentzel-level C. So remove Broberg, Holloway, & Joseph and you're close to what I'd call the most favourable comparable (you could easily flip Foegele for around a 3rd). And in response, I can counter with Mark Stone being traded for Brannstrom (Broberg-ish), Lindberg (McLeod-ish), & and a 2nd.

I can see how you could interpret it that way, but I'd say the deadline portion is pretty central given how that time of year influences trade returns. Further, I think asking for a comparable would at least exclude RD trades and trades involving players with term, but I can concede that that you may differ in that belief.
