You're gonna look really dumb when Stamkos doesn't re-sign with the Jets.

Stamkos and Julien Brisebois decline, Stamkos isn't waiving for Winnipeg.

I don't think Stammer is a realistic target, and my guess is that he will be staying in TB but if a move like this were made I don't agree with either of your takes. WPG isn't acquiring Stamkos to extend him, he would be a pure rental. WPG is also 1st in the league, if they continue at this pace, why wouldn't Stamkos want to head to a real Stanley Cup contender?

Both Julien Brisebois and Steven Stamkos have stated that he will be on the team at the end of the year if not beyond. Stamkos guaranteed it in an interview and in a separate interview Brisebois said playoffs or not after the season we'll sit down with Steven and work out his future with the organization. So , PLEASE can we stop with the ridiculous Stamkos trades!

Yeah because those president trophy winners are constantly winning the cup . Ohh that's right the last presidents trophy winner to win the Cup was the 12/13 Hawks

It's foolish to discount Tampa. Yeah, they're struggling right now, but if they make the playoffs you have a group who knows how to win and one of the best goalies in the world. I don't care if he's having an off-season now. My money is that Vas will find his groove.

Why would you trade 4 good pieces + Schmidt for a rental?

Wasn't commenting on the value whatsoever. It's not a trade I would do, I'm just saying that if a miracle happens and Stammer heads to WPG, we all know it would be a pure rental. extending him isn't the goal.

I would hate to match up against them in the 1st round, that's for sure!

You're asking the wrong question. The question isn't "what are the Lightning going to be doing with Stamkos?", it's "what are the lightning going to do with Cirelli".

6.25m signed for another 7 years, currently 354th in the league for points/60 per quanthockey.

If the bolts would be willing to eat even 1M, the Jets could make a pretty enticing offer, I think. Why would the Jets want a guy like this? He's a bit of a risk in the long-term, but he's the kind of high-upside reclamation project I would be willing to gamble on. He's never going to be a 1C in the league, but put him on a line with Perfetti and Connor and I think he could be pretty effective.

Yes that's how it works, winning the presidents trophy automatically drops you from the contender bracket...

The last 5 seasons only the 2021 Avs got out of first round (they got bounced in the second.) So recent history says yes it does! Just never let facts get in the way of a narrative you want to tell.
Edit the last Presidents trophy winner to get to the Conference final was the 14/15 NYR more proof yes it's how it works
