What’s the ask on him guys? Hughes has proven in the past he doesn’t mind overpaying a bit to get his target. Curious what Rags fans set his value at.

Actually not available. He’s the best defensive forward we have who will eventually be similar to Nichushkin. Not interested in picks or prospects. NYR already has their own

The Rangers are 17-4-1 with Kakko in the lineup, and trading him would just open a hole in roster. There probably isn’t a scenario where it makes sense to trade him since his value to the Rangers is higher than his value in a vacuum.

I agree his value to the Rags is higher than the open market value, however I feel like this is a player the Rags are holding back in much the same way as the Habs held Lehkonen back because of his defensive prowess. I think for that reason alone the Rags should be looking to give him a better opportunity somewhere else

Well they’re playing him on the first line, so I’m not sure about the Rangers holding him back.

I think that’s more of a new development due to injuries, but you are right it is his time to shine.

I was thinking more Monahan, a dman not named Matheson, Guhle or Hutson and a pick. Just figured since they are on a cup hunt that the Rags would be looking to upgrade their roster not just get futures.

He spent the first ten games with Zibanejad and Kreider, then he was moved to the third line for ten games because the whole line was struggling to produce, now he’s back on the first line since coming back from injury.

He’s getting top 6 mins just like Laf. He just hasn’t clicked offensively. Exact same scenario as Laf. It’ll come in time but it’s not the organization holding him back

They need Kakko if they are cup hunting. Would just be nice if his offensive ability came out

If the Rangers were looking to add a center and/or a D-man they would just trade futures. Trading Kakko just opens another hole on the roster.

Sounds like sound reasoning to me. Thanks for the input guys.

No ask for him, Rangers want to keep him.

I don't follow the Rags too much, the last thing I had heard was he was playing 3rd line. It's nice to see him getting his shot in the top 6 though, hope he takes advantage of it. Thanks for clarifying that though

The problem is that people on this website don’t understand the huge difference between Kakko’s value VS what it’ll take to pry him away from the rangers

That being said, it probably starts with a 1st and NHL ready right winger on cheap contract/ELC. Plus more obviously

Ya he started top 6 at the beginning of the season but wasn’t clicking so they swapped him and wheeler. See how the next 10 games go
