I'd rather package a bigger pick and replace Strub with Harris

Why am I seeing so many Holtz and Mercer trades on here recently??? Did I miss a report or something saying they could be available?

Lately?

There have been Holtz and Mercer trades for a while (years).
Maybe they are just becoming fashionable in Quebec now.
Look back...Meier deadline....all way back to the summer Tarasenko wanted out of STL.

Montreal does not have anything they'd give up that would make the Devils want to move Holtz

For a legitimately elite goalie (top 8 or so) maybe.

Only pieces of interest are Montembault, 1sts, Guhle, or Slaf

I know...aim high

(and gap between Guhle/Holtz is smaller than Holtz/Struble)

Listening to Kent Hughes' most recent press conference, I'd say 1st rd picks will very much be available to trade (Dach/Newhook type deals). Seeing the Habs trending (right now...) to be a middle of the pack team (15th overall range), and the possibilities of MTL adding another late 1st at the trade deadline (you never know with Monahan or Savard). Would multiple 1sts move the needle for someone like Mercer?

Calgary 1st+Montreal unprotected 1st maybe but I don’t know. Probably just keep him.

imo an unprotected 1st from MTL is an automatic no. Still WAY too early in the "rebuild" to start shipping out those. The CGY 1st would be very unlikely to move, but I could see scenarios where Hughes could trade it.

If I had to guess, any 1st rd pick not in the top10 or that MTL acquires later would be open for business for the right player.
