Anaheim passes, There's no way Pat Verbeek is retaining on Trevor Zegras, You want him. You take him as he is.

Zegras is a great player, but I don't think Chevy wants him on his team. The PLD fiasco is probably still fresh in the minds of those who work in the Jets front office, and I see some similarities between Z and PLD. They both give off that "I'm above working hard" vibe to me. I could be wrong though, this is only based on what little I've seen of Zegras.

They aren't identical. PLD is a "diva" while Zegras doesn't seem to be, but they both seem to want to live the party lifestyle. It's how they approach their jobs (or at least the parts of it we commoners can see) that I find lacking sometimes.

I think that Chevy is going to make sure that anyone he brings in feels the same way about hockey as the rest of the Jets locker room. That's how you can bring in new guys and reinforce the team culture rather than shaking it up, E.g. Niederreiter and Namestnikov.

If Chevy does make a move for Zegras, he'll make sure to do his due diligence on Z the Person as well as Z the Player.

Zegras would hardly be known around California if he didn't pull a Michigan off. There are 2-3 societal outcasts Duck fans here and take this make believe trade stuff quite seriously.

I think Chaz Lucius has a chance to be a great player, he’s right handed which the Ducks have little centers of, and he could also be moved to the wing like Strome has.

Iaffalo could help the Ducks bottom six which is in desperate need of fixing, could be a good 3rd liner for sure.

Obviously the picks are ideal too.

I like this deal, I think I’d do it if the retention was gone.

Out of curiosity because I've posted the Zegras trade to Montreal and got zero constructive feedback from a Ducks fan. And. Full Transparency. I don't want Zegras. The Habs need a legit center. BUT. This is a make believe trade site so Im curious as you seem to be level headed.

What would you want outside Reinbacher, Slafkovsky, Caufield, Suzuki and Guhle?

I'd offer up a 2024 top10 pick for Zegras in a hypothetical if KH were dead set on trading for Z. With Barron at RHD and a player like Beck.

But if it was me, i rather find a gem like Tippett, honestly, instead. The flyers got a 1st and Tippett for 2 months of Giroux. Lundell would be my target from Florida.

That said, I do believe the Ducks can get a great return and a better return than I believe Z deserves but i see that return from Chicago whom has a bit more to gain with a Zegras in the fold because they need some promise outside Bedard to sell tickets next year.

Realistically I don’t see a trade between Montreal and Anaheim for Zegras. Montreal doesn’t have the assets that Anaheim would be looking for outside Reinbacher and Slaf and I can’t see Montreal moving either.
