dont think you can mix all these product and pretend they are same! The demand is for good nhl goaltending, not ahl cap dumps.

There are many different attributes...cap, term, role, experience, etc....teams could be looking for.

TEAM A is looking for ~$2m backup....there will be options
TEAM B is looking for ~$5-6m starter....there will be options
TEAM C is looking for UFA injury replacement/rental....there will be options

Every selling team is acting as if buying teams ONLY option is there 'product' so a premium must be paid.

Have seen a lot of:
"New Jersey must go all in now. Their window is closing. Our backup 0.900 goalie starts at..."

sure, i agree there is mutiple option and you are right that people here act as if there is only one.

im just saying lets not pretend someone is looking for a 5 million cap dump.

Can't speak for the rest of the goalies, but Fleury likely isn't "for sale", so I would go out on a limb and say you probably got some others wrong too

No...I just used the list of goalies from various "trade boards" on Athletic, TSN, 4th period, etc

None are top-10...a couple of decent options.
But that reinforces the point I am making.

If Saros goes on market, there will be bidding war.
Selling team can set the price.

If its all the guys listed here, the ones that move will be cheapest (relative to their value) to trade for.

His name as been brought up...I think Friedman said on 32 thoughts that he would go to contender (speculated about Carolina)

Yup. These selling goalies will be competing with eachother to win an offer from the few buyers. And every day they wait their potentially overperforming goalie risks turning back into a pumpkin, getting injured, or the buying teams goalies getting their groove back.

My opinions on each goalie:
Gibson - Splitting time in Anaheim, young goalie coming up almost ready to replace him. Trade protection, very expensive multi year contract. Play has been average on a not great team. Anaheim will still need a second goalie, don't see him getting traded in season and even in the offseason I don't see it. It just makes a hole they need to fill with a pretty meh UFA goalie market. I think he plays at least one more year in Anaheim.

Markstrom - Starter in Calgary. Has had some questionable play the last few seasons. Very expensive contract with term and full trade protection. Young unproven goalie pushing for time. Trading him would make them rely solely on Vladar and Wolf, unproven. Only teams likely to be able to afford him are probably in LTIR money, making next year difficult. Probably stays put until the offseason if he moves at all.

Fleury - NMC, has said he doesn't want to move again. Nothing left to prove but probably would like to try and win again. Sub .900 save percentage this year. Probably just a back up at this point. Could see him moving, contract isn't bad with retention.

Merzlinkins - Good goalie on a bad team. One bad year as an outlier, had some extreme circumstances though. Expensive but young enough to be a starter, tough to move in season with his cap hit. Retention not likely an option given the term.

Allen - Wouldn't be much of an upgrade on alot of teams and his contract is expensive with that extra year. Montreal only had one retention slot left, do they just it on him this season?

Vejmelka - Been a work house for a defensively bad team for a few years. Would be a great upgrade for another looking past this season.

Lankinen - Probably gets moves. Seems like Askarov is ready for a back up roll. Not great numbers this season, likely just a back up as well.

Nedeljkovic - Pittsburgh wants to win. They don't have a replacement if they sell him. Would need to find one for next season. Probably try to get him extended.

Mrazek - Chicago doesn't have anyone else. They probably try and keep him for another year or two, similar to Foligno and Dickinson.

Kahkonen - Young enough to be around for a few years, could become a starter. Don't know if San Jose is ready to commit to one goalie or if they try and get him signed as well. They don't have anyone else ready yet either to fill the hole.

Reimer - Meh, he isn't much of an upgrade for most teams. Would just be added depth and security.

Vladar - Same as Reimer.

Comrie - Same as Reimer.

Martin - You can have for free right now. He's an AHL goalie.

Driedger - AHL goalie for most of this year and expensive contract for that.

Last 3 aren't worth talking about.

I get what you are saying but you are obviously inflating one side to fit your narrative here. Way too many goalies listed are not even real options for playoff teams. There are also might be a few other teams who are interested in goalies too. Toronto for example.
