Chycrun is a good player, but he is way more offensive than defensive. I'm not convinced he's a defensive upgrade on Lily

Regarding the Tanev deal:
From what Conroy said, there were two reasons we didn't retain on Zadorov.

The first was that we only have 3 retention slots. Conroy plans on using all of them. As it happens we have 3 UFAs in Lindholm, Tanev, and Hanifin. Conroy is also willing to help other teams facilitate trades, so he can maximize our assets.

The second reason was that we needed cap space ahead of a potential Kylington return. Kylington was placed on LTIR at the start of the season.

The price seems about right. I see it around 2 x 2nds for Tanev. Leafs fans might consider it an overpay based on how they view their prospects.

CAR wouldn't give you a 2nd for Samsonov. He's still a replacement level goalie this year, and he would be overpaid even at $1.75M.

Samsonov a non starter. They’d be better off claiming Spencer Martin off waivers and trying to hold it together while Kochetkov and Freddie get healthy.

Trading for any goalie mid season is enough of a risk, not adding more risk by hoping Samsonov improves.

Hoping or just being naive?, I think Sammy can definitely bounce back behind a better D-core & the price isn’t insane with the potential for massive upside to it but i understand, i removed the trade

Statistically he is & he is capable in those big minutes, i think this is personally the perfect move as when Chychruns deal is up he is 27 & Mitch & JT are off the books making his extension even easier

Lilly who is a young capable RHD with good upside & two way play plus team control

Timmins who really just needs to work on his defensive game & he’d be a force with his production

a 1st & 3rd is very good value as well

Leafs pass on all 3 trades zero interest in even giving lily for chychrun, leafs aren’t trading Brodie and way over paying for tanev
