Interesting Colorado trade I’m curious what the Avs fans think of it

If the Habs can't sign Tuch, can't you just sign him for free?

He's gonna be a free bird this offseason if the Habs can't get it done.

Avs decline. They likely can't afford to extend Mitts.

Question. Is Samuelsson available? And what is he like as a defenseman from a Sabres fan’s perspective?

Well, if they're moving out Bo's $3.85M and then move Manson, they probably can afford it but there is a question of Mitts' fit with the Avs. But I can't see the Avs trading Bo, at least not in-season. I do think, in terms of value, no picks are required by either team.

Yes, I meant to make the point about the picks as well but there's also a 'therein lies the rub' with regard to your comment. Does the addition of Mitts outweigh the subtraction of both Byram AND Manson? That's a significant weakening of the D corps to strengthen(?) the 2C position. Now sure one of them (or Sammy G) may well be gone anyway, in fact, almost certainly are. Not sure this is worth it though.

Yep; meant to mention that, too. If it costs them a lot on the D corps, have they really improved?

He's big, defensive defenseman. Was hoping there would be more snarl, but mostly he uses his size and long reach to break up plays. Gets caught puck watching sometimes. He played his best hockey when he was covering dahlins back and letting him do his offensive thing, but this season the pair hasn't worked as well, and the coach really just mixes and matches d. I think he needs more time to develop, plus the Sabres d core is pretty soft, would love to see him throw some of that size around more. The Sabres didn't give him that contract because they needed to get to the floor, he's a player they want in their core, and it would take something significant to get him.

Good to know. Appreciate the rundown. I’d assume he isn’t available just to give him more time to develop like you said.

Hmm I don’t hate that deal for the Sharks. Would prefer someone like Ostlund or Rosen though. Assuming Couture comes back strong this season, would you do Couture with retention straight up for Ostlund?

Trading still gives them first opportunity to resign him. But I don't think his rights are worth that much.
