Teams have reportedly asked about Xhekaj and been told he is unavailable.
Makes sense. If he doesn't need to be showcased and is in the long term plans, being in the AHL has no impact on his value and plenty of impact on his development.

Knowing he isn't available, we can assume the competition for a LHD roster spot is down to who replaces Matheson (eventually).
We can also reasonably expect one of Harris, Struble, or Kovacevic will be moved to make room for Hutson, and Matheson or Savard may be available at the right price.

Long term, Xhekaj and Mailloux are being groomed as a potential pairing. Once we have room, expect them to be called up together to at least gauge their progress and viability in the NHL.

Also noteworthy, Habs are looking for top six forward prospects that would fit in the group have to trade from depth in one area, to acquire assets in another

Because this team isn’t winning anything this year don’t reward the players for playing like crap ride it out and try again next year after a big offseason

seriously? look at those trades, not "reward" it is restructuring
the team has their reward, and it's in $s
NHL is about building something to win

Wifi has 11. pts in his last 17 games. HABS. have declined multiple trades for Wifi. The price is. what someone is willing to pay and what someone is willing to sell.

I'm sure if you try to buy a Condo on Yonge Street and offer $250K all the seller hears is WAWAWAWA!!!

Not arguing that. It just won't be Xhekaj.
I gave the 5 names who are candidates to move from that depth instead.
Personally, I'd move Matheson and Harris, possibly Kovacevic.
Struble and Xhekaj can rotate with Hutson to finish the season.
Mailloux can come up for a look at well, rotating with Kovacevic and Barron.

IMO, CBJ take this all day. Kampf is an easy buy-out/burial.

Severson was signed to appease Babcock. No real inclination to keep him around, even if I think his contract will age OK.

Yet has more grit than the entire Leafs roster combined. The guy is 22 and rounding out his game in the AHL due to Montreal having a logjam at the position. The AHL is full of 22 year olds who will be impactful NHLers.

Lol, the Habs defence isn't good and he's not good enough for it. He's not an NHLer

Minten isn't even better than mysak who's a prospect montreal fans already forgot about, just because he's your top prospect doesn't mean he hold any value in a trade
