We don't need skaters... we need goaltending

I like the idea of Laine - but I wonder how he'd do here with the forecheck system Rod runs. Also - I don't see them giving up Bunting, he's been fine if not under utilized. Annnnnd we need a goalie.

They need to deal with goaltending first... that's the canary in the coal mine. We need a competent goaltender before we deal with any issues with the defensemen and forwards

1000%. Any other additions are moot if you're getting .864 goaltending.

Exactly. I'd give Martin a chance to prove that he's a potential solution but you still need to be looking at the trade market and free agency

Martin is an okay backup. You don’t want him starting more than once a week

And that's probably going to be the case now... We just need him to play backup to PK

I can't see either of those pieces being of interest to Buffalo. Especially when you're sitting on Scott Morrow and Alexander Nikishin who would both be of legitimate interest.

Unlike your talking about Tage Thompson or Rashmus Dahlin coming back that is not happening.

While I appreciate the sentiment that those two are high value assets. Let's not be silly.
Obviously those aren't the pieces moving for Jokiharju. However they also spent a 1st, two 2nds, and a 3rd in the other trade.
The fact remains that if Carolina wanted to be aggressive with Buffalo they'd have to provide assets of want.
There's other pieces in Buffalo that could actually be available that would fetch those two players in packages as part of the return, depending on what Carolina is trying to do here.
(ie; Mittelstadt, Savoie, Kulich, Ostlund, Rosen)

If we're trading for anybody on Buffalo it's probably Mittelstadt or UPL so that we can seal up our two big holes at 2C and goalie.

Are you kidding me the Canes are getting fleeced in this trade... Bunting is worth a lot more than some random 3rd pairing defensemen

Way to show me right off the bat that u don’t know what you’re talking about 🤣🤣🤣
First, he’s 2nd pair, not 3rd. And he’s a RH shot who has played well this year for us
Second, keep your AVERAGE bottom6 winger- they’re a dime a dozen

Bunting is on pace for about .7 p/g that's not exactly bottom-6.
Jokiharju isn't on the pair with either Power or Dahlin... which makes him a third-pairing defenseman
Calling Bunting a bottom-6 winger is absolutely hilarious

This just isn't a good trade for either team. Buffalo has an abundance of wingers to the point that Bunting would just be excess goods stuck on the 3rd or 4th line for the Sabres. Jokiharju may be playing the 2RD role in Buffalo but he would be in the press box in Carolina. The last player the Canes should trade for is a D-Man, and Buffalo doesn't need more forwards (especially with term - it would clog up the lineup for their prospects in the coming years).

Bunting plays in your bottom6…. True or False ?

Jokiharju has played MOST of the year paired with Power
He’s been recently paired with Clifton bc the 3rd pair has been a mess & he makes it better
Sorry, but like i said, you don’t know what you’re talking about
U can also look at the icetime, Joker gets the 4th most among defensemen on our team

But don’t let facts get in the way of your dog$h!t argument
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Bunting plays in your bottom6…. True or False ?... 50/50. Rn he's on the top line with Sepe and Turbo because Svech is out. Rod loves to throw lines into blender so everybody outside of Aho and Staal have played both top-6 and bottom-6 minutes at some point. He'd be 5th in scoring on your team.
Jokiharju has played MOST of the year paired with Power... okay fair enough but he's still nothing more than a warm body in Carolina... he doesn't beat out Chatfield for 3RD

To be fair….
I never said u guys should do the trade or that it was a good trade for you
Just said the trade sucks for the Sabres, as we aren’t looking to trade Jokiharju & aren’t interested in Bunting or Deangelo- which u seem to agree with

100% in our bottom6
He’s an AVERAGE PLAYER
He doesn’t even crack our top9 tbh
Skinner-Thompson-Tuch
Peterka-Cozens-Quinn
Benson-Mittelstadt-Greenway

Only guy u could even attempt to argue is Greenway,
but we like his physicality & 2way play

AGAIN…. U clearly don’t know what you’re talking about concerning the Sabres
Take the L
ZERO CHANCE the Sabres make this garbage trade

I also NEVER SAID that this was a trade u guys should wanna do either
Maybe u should go back & re-read??

Of course the sabers wouldn't make this trade... that's not what I've been arguing... I've been arguing that the Sabers get way more value than they give up.

Bunting is an elite PP specialist who can effectively score at 5v5 as well while being above average at 5v5 and having average to above-average defensive abilities... I'd take that over a few of the guys in your top 9

The Sabres won’t make this trade, PERIOD
