Los Angeles isn't about to trade 7 full seasons of Pierre-Luc DuBois for two seasons of 38-year-old Evgeni Malkin and one season of 33-year-old Reilly Smith, never mind the first.

PLD will round into form, if not this season, then next. Many players take a year or more to settle into their new surroundings.

I think the Canes would entertain that kind of move in the offseason. Kind of hard to get Graves into a roster spot when the Canes currently have 3 LHD ahead of him on the depth charts.

While I agree that LA probably wouldn't/shouldn't get rid of Dubois right now, but Todd McLellan just voiced his frustrations about Dubois and his play without the puck. It could be possible, not saying it's likely but it isn't a definitive no.

Oilers also can’t fit 8M in Cap. Cap would need to go the other way.

Teams only have 3 retention slots so one of the trades would need to be changed up. That being said, if it were an offseason trade I would still do it for Graves unretained, so that would fix your problem.
