Yeah, that absolutely works for Columbus. Bean's been quietly decent on the 3rd pair on an awful team.

I think you should be able to get a 4th coming back minimum on the duclair trade

yeah something around there. retaining some money will up his value and the rangers don't have too many middle picks. would've chosen a third for duclair (retained)

It’s fair value but I think they hold onto him at least one more year. Provorov is likely gone at the deadline next year so that basically leaves us with werenski. We would be counting on mateychuk and svozil to fill The other two LD spots or blankenberg who is injury prone

Severson can play both sides reasonably well (meaning he is a perfectly serviceable middle pair guy). Aside from his two boneheaded mistakes a game, he and Boqvist have been acceptable as a pairing. I won't be surprised to see the team move Provorov this summer.

i think he is more of an offseason departure (provorov). could see bean now, especially if someone give them around a 3rd rounder

all signs from the org indicate that provorov exists to bridge the gap to mateychuk. captain serious will likely start 2024-25 in the ahl and the timing of trading provorov at the 2025 TDL and elevating mateychuk is too perfect. they'd have to be absolutely 100% convinced mateychuk is ready this summer in order to move provorov in the summer and i highly highly doubt we let provorov walk for nothing at the end of 2025. we invested too much (a first and a second) into him to let him walk.

I'm personally not convinced Mateychuk was any less ready than Jiricek this past summer. Could be an offseason move, could be TDL to make sure Mateychuk is a fit, but Provy absolutely doesn't move for nothing. As for Bean, I don't mind him as a 3LD for another year if he's extended before TDL, but he's not much more than that...and 3rd-pair D aren't something you go out of your way to keep.

I would argue Mateychuk was more ready on account of the fact he can actually skate and doesn’t look like a baby deer on the ice. But CHL agreement vs. Euro player decided that one.

I fully agree. He was more impactful at Traverse and in preseason imo but I personally think his ceiling might be higher than Jiricek’s so taking our time on his development makes sense to me.
