Tough break.

Ruzicka goes from an outdated Saddledome in Calgary to a tiny band box in Arizona.

Good for him, good for the Flames. Pretty hard to imagine he beats out many guys on the Coyotes for playing time.

Depth guy, won't wow you in any way but is not a complete liability like Oesterle (who should have been placed on waivers instead)

Good for the Flames. He was a log jam and would take away from someone in the top 6 in the AHL, he was given so much rope with the organization and he hung himself with it. Hope he can do well somewhere it was clearly never going to be here though.

He’s an Offensive AHL Caliber Defensemen

Weak Physically and not Great Defensively, especially in his own zone and his Offence didn’t translate to the NHL at all. He’s purely a depth piece and as @Ledge_And_Dairy said, it should have been Oesterle who was waived instead, but whatever

Ruzicka’s the far more surprising and upsetting loss, especially given Dube’s gone for awhile, but this opens up ice time for true Bottom-6 style players like Schwindt & Klapka and Dube’s departure allows for more ice time for Coronato, Duehr and Pelletier when he returns

Wish we would have gotten something back in return for Ruzicka, like Jan Jenik or Cameron Crotty, but oh well

We need bodies…even our AHL team was struggling to field a full defensive unit. So better than nothing, I guess.

Yeah he’s a body to fill the departure of Cal Foote. We might claim him back if you try to waive and send him down, as we don’t have much for Right Shot RD’s either with just Brady Lyle and Mark Pysyk

It’s a no gamble pick up by NJD and I’m sure Nick is happy to be playing for a Team closer to home as well

My take on Desimone is that he's more of a #7D. He's pretty good when defending 3rd/4th lines, but if he ends up having a shift against a top line with a guy like Matthews on the ice, expect mistakes, a long shift in your own zone without the puck, and eventually to get scored on.

He's not overly fast, or physical. He can skate the puck out, but he won't be leading the rush. Mostly you don't notice him in the D zone, unless he's out against top forwards.

Surprisingly, Desimone showed some very good offensive instincts, and even some chemistry with Huberdeau(first callup). Several high danger chances, that were generated from Huberdeau finding Desimone as the trailer, didn't end up on the scoresheet.
