I like the Lindholm trade for sure. The guy is what the jets need (at least his play historically) and I dont mind the Deangelo trade but he's kind of a dick isnt he? maybe find someone else less dickish in a similar deal. I dont like the Donato deal. Schmidt, although overpayed, is a great locker room guy. Just watch some of those vids from jets site. what he brings to the team doesnt show up on the score sheet and would effect the vibes IMO. Giving up a 2nd and 3rd to move him is a lot when the could buy him out in the offseason or jsut keep him for one year if they dont need the salary

Lindholm is a good target, but that's far to much for him. Rentals don't get that much in return.

Carolina is a playoff team, they're not moving depth. While Winnipeg has no incentive to add an offense only, me first player and disrupt one of the best defenses in the league.

The Jets have no reason to mess with their defense and pay to give Schmidt away for nothing in the Chicago trade.

This is all bad for WPG
Paying way to much for Lindholm
Zero desire to bring DeAngelo and his attitude to the Jets locker room
Zero need for Donoto at all
Zero reason to mess with our D, which is clicking, beyond maybe adding depth RHD or if one was available, a true top RHD…and that’s NOT DeAngelo
We can move Schmidt in the offseason

CHI likely accepts. But I doubt WPG wants to move Schmidt or wants Donato this badly at this point.

Gonna disagree w/ @Garak. Hawks probably decline. To take Schmidt this season costs both of those picks. Schmidt may have value to the Jets, but he's a cap dump from the Hawks perspective. He's a $6m 3rd pair RD. And Donato has been solid for Chicago. One of the only guys who's had any chemistry w/ Bedard. Don't see the Hawks just giving him away.

There are a handful of guys I'd rather see in the lineup next season over him. His metrics with Bedard may have looked fine in a small sample size, but they obviously didn't produce much and the coaching staff obviously didn't like them on a line together and he has mostly been playing on the 4th line for a team that already is already AHL caliber. I think CHI would have zero problem moving Donato, and I doubt they get back more than a 4th or 5th round pick for him.

For those reasons, I think a 2nd and a 3rd should cover the cost of both dumping Schmidt and acquiring Donato, pretty easily.
