Time to overdrive the tank - We have no business finishing over OTT and BUF. none.

Kill the team - get some cap dumps, injure Monty - we need to lose a good 8 out of the 10 next game.

Let's boost OTT and BUF while we are at it. Anything but finishing in the top 10 but missing out on Lindstrom, Eiserman or Demidov. We have to get one of them.

If we end up with Mich. Brandsegg-Nygård, I'll [insert terrible thing].

Send Xhekaj down to the AHL to keep improving with Mailloux and help the rockets in the playoffs.

My apologies good sir.

I saw it from a Flyers AGM - (before the comments came in - did not know the player - just saw his stat line and contract and said "sure".)

You can consider the ALLEN trade a "ANY TEAM" trade at this point.

That Flyers AGM was created by a Montreal fan. The Flyers don't need a goalie rn, they are happy with Errson.

I don't know - Monahan would be a real improvement on their center depth and become their 2nd C over J.T. And Yzerman might want to see his team in the playoffs. That trade does that.

Trading a 1st that's likely to end up 11-19 to just make the playoffs is horrible asset management. Especially when that 1st goes towards a rental that is extremely injury prone.
Plus, "a real improvement" isn't much. Compher isn't as good offensively as Monahan (which its by a few points), but defensively its not particularly close lol.

This trade does not fix the obvious glaring holes we have on our team. If we were to acquire a forward, I would expect it would be a physical defensive minded one. Compher is doing really well as our 2C, no reason for us to do this trade.

He had a hip problem that is completly healed - and last year he broke his foot blocking a shot (Can happen to anybody), then before being 100% he was rushed back... which made it worse.

So far he's played the 48 games without issues. I would not say that he is injury prone - just unlucky.

Yzerman has to sign Seider and Raymond this summer.

He's not going to acquire a rental like Monahan for a 1st when he already traded a 1st for Cat.

I don't know why Habs fans on CFACGM always think Detroit is the only team they can make trades with?

I realize the Petry trade finally happened.

But it wasn't until Montreal basically gave him away.

Detroit isn't contending for a Cup with or without Monahan this season.

They currently have a deep group of forwards.

It's the D and G which needs improving.

Lyon has been very good though.

Even if you want to say Monahan is better than Compher... is he that much better?

Unlucky, injury prone. Case still stands that he hasn't played 70+ games in like 5 seasons.
But that's the least of things. The forefront issue is that he's just not worth a 1st to a team on the brink of playoffs and unlikely to go far, like Detroit.

Not even close Compher is a more complete player.

I'd definitely take Compher over Monahan.

But Habs fans view Monahan much higher than non Habs fans do. 🙄

You can't convince them otherwise.

They don't want to hear it.

Cheer for the laundry, I guess. 😬

but not at a 60 pts pace - let him take defensive mission on the 3rd line - and have Copp on the 4th line - makes a very deep and responsible center line.

When the Islanders were dealing with Dman injuries earlier this season they picked up Mike Reilly on waivers and traded a 7th for Bortuzzo. They're not trading a 2nd round pick for a 3rd pair guy with the biggest cap hit out of the three

Since we have Compher it means Monahan isn't worth a 1st at most he's worth maybe 4th at best.
