Glass

Created by: V1NnY2
Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 27, 2024
Published: Jan. 27, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
NSH
  1. Anderson, Josh
  2. Harris, Jordan
Additional Details:
NSH gets the most promising/valuable player in the deal in Harris. LHD is not a huge need for them but they add quality depth for a potential playoff run, especially since Harris can play both sides.
Anderson produces more than Glass and better suits NSH’s style of play. The contract is still awful, but NSH’s cap situation can more than support it.
Glass has been a major disappointment in NSH so MTL takes a bet on him in exchange for Anderson’s contract + Harris (since Anderson is more a cap dump). Foudy is just a throw in to even out contracts and he would report to the AHL.

No interest in Anderson, at all. I’d much rather have just trade Glass for a pick if they were to move him. Easy pass.

Despite Glass' disappointing season, I don't see NSH being interested in a Glass-Harris swap. Glass isn't a lost cause yet, and Harris does nothing for NSH. The Preds don't have room for another defenceman, this season or next (when Stastney and Del Gaizo aren't waiver eligible anymore). The prospect of Glass working through his current struggles and being able to contribute more to NSH's weak center depth is worth a lot more to them, than adding an adequate but unspectacular warm body to their bottom pair.

There's no way MTL unloads Anderson's contract this painlessly. Especially not to a team that doesn't have the option of buying him out.

Barrie will be gone and I could see Carrier testing out the market this summer. There would be room for Harris in this scenario.

As for NSH’s center depth : what if MTL throws in Monahan and NSH sends a pick?

Yeah this is a crazy bad proposal for Nashville, that Anderson contract is pretty bad.

Who cares, Glass doesn't have the cap hit or term of Anderson and Harris is whatever really, so many LHD around the league, he isn't enough of a sweetener to take Anderson.

No thanks on Monahan. NSH shouldn't be using assets for a playoff run this season. Even if they were to do that, I still don't see why they'd want to add Harris.

The same goes for next season - I don't see why NSH would be interested in Harris. They have more than enough left shot dmen (Josi, McDonagh, Lauzon, Stastney, Del Gaizo). One of Carrier or Fabbro is probably gone by then, but Harris isn't an upgrade on either. I think it makes more sense for NSH to look at RDs in free agency for a replacement, instead of using assets on a redundant player.

So no thanks on Harris. Even without the boat anchor of Anderson's contract coming with him.

Not sure where Harris would fit into Nashville’s already over crowded defense and Nashville wants no part of Anderson's contract. That's a buyout in waiting
