I think Boston politely sits this one out and takes our chances that Hanifin or Lindholm hits free agency.

Byram holds to much value to Colorado to be seen as a trade piece for a rental. Not to mention that you have Colorado adding here.

Lindholm is interesting to Colorado. Not my preferred choice. But sure, i could se them making a push for him. 2024 first is a start and then add something in the neighborhood of the value of a second.

Interesting; most Avs fans see Lindy as THE guy to get. For the record: I don't think they'll pay the price the Flames will want. Who do you like?

with that offer, I don't think it's polite. If Poitras was taken out, i still think it isn't polite. the boston version of this nonsense would be, "hey want a 3rd for hanifin?"

Did not realize Noah was Bobby Orr in his prime. Seeing how he is not…Boston declines.

I hate that we start criticizing the players because a fan makes an illogical trade. Hanifin, Lindholm, and the Bruins prospects have value. I think I’ve seen more one sided deals with Hanifin/Lindholm on both sides as any players on this site

You could add Lindholm with full retention on both players from the Flames plus Geekie/Forbort from Boston, and I probably still pass. I’d like say we are going to sign both long term, but not sure that is realistic for long term cap health. Once you consider that, it becomes harder.

Reality is Boston will likely be able to bring in one of these two in FA. I’d be surprised if one, if not both, are available in July. My preference is Hanifin because he’s younger and I think we have a potential top 9 forward in Lysell and would like to give Frederic more play in the top 6.

I do think they have to set aside some of next years money for Frederic, whose value in terms of production / dollar will come closer to Lindholm as their contracts and the players age. It’s one of the reasons where I wouldn’t be shocked if they chose to keep Ullmark through his free agent year and simply let him go

Sure, Lindy probably is THE guy if we’re talking rentals and i agree if we’re talking purely about this season and who is the best fit. But the reality is as you say, the acquisition cost will be very high and we’ll have the exact same problem next year. Except a lot less assets to move to solve it. I’m not a big fan of that.

I would prefer to use the assets on someone who can fill a role next year. The borderline 2/3C-route with a player with pace and upside. Morgan Frost has been looking great lately and i really like the flexibility his cap hit offers next year. Ryan McLeod would otherwise be my dream target (no reason for Edmonton to move on from him but i would sooo overpay for him).

The other option would ne to play Colton at 2C (he looks better and better) and find a 3C to play with Wood and LOC. Doesn’t love this tho since they are the ideal third line togheter.
