MTL
  1. Byram, Bowen [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Montreal get a solid defenseman that will complete the top 4.
Guhle-Byram
Hutson-Reinbacher
I made a trade to get Byram previously and people told me that it wasn't impossible that Byram could be trade. The price asking was:
-2c; Monahan is better than Ross Colton in my opinion. Mony has 12 points in his last 10 games. He is worth a first round pick.
-A replacement defenseman; Byram is playing on the 3rd pair, Kovacevic is a 3rd pair defenseman. It could be Harris or Struble too.
-I add a first round pick to make the trade fair (protected top 10)
COL

  3. 2025 1st round pick (MTL)

Struble- Barron
Harris-Xhekaj
2.
MTL
  1. Zegras, Trevor
Additional Details:
I think this trade is pretty fair. Anaheim need rhd and Barron show great things despite his young age. Ylonen can play on a 3rd line and he is an expert for the shoutout. The first round pick could be interesting. A 7th overall is worth a lot. (I would only trade the first round pick if Eiserman and Lindstrom are already picked).

Additional Details:
Montreal get a good prospect to make an end to their rebuild. Pittsburgh get Matheson to solidify their left side. Joseph could be not resign this summer.

Key words missing in a potential Byram-trade: young, obvious 2C potential, RFA-control, already signed longterm. Monahan doesn’t really fit any of that.

Pens decline. Matheson isn't the type of D they are looking for and giving up Yager is not an option at this point in time.

Monahan is only 29 years old, it's not like he is 35. Plus, who would sign for Avalanche? They are fighting for the Stanley Cup every years.

Yeah I choose the Pens but it could literally be any team for the same return. Montreal just need to make room for younger defenseman.

I think Matheson has value but not to Pittsburgh

29 is pretty close to being "old" by NHL standards. The biggest issue with Monahan is he doesn't fit the Avs style; he isn't really an improvement on RyJo. The 2C problem has been just that - a problem - but Monahan doesn't really solve it. Plus, he isn't cost-controlled so that is a big problem for a cap-strapped team. Sorry but Monahan just doesn't do it for the Avs and I don't think the Habs and Avs are good trading partners at this time.

You know my opinion on Byram, just Monahan is worth a first pick plus a prospect. I don't understand your fixation on a 14th left-handed defender. As for Zegras, he's a bad apple, you'll never win a cup with that guy. kind of player.Very glad Kent Hughes thinks the opposite of you

We can have a Suzuki or Guhle+ convo if you want Byram. Cant see a trade to be made though

Bro wtf. Suzuki is way more valuable than Byram and Guhle is like the same player as Byram.

Huh, only 29 years old and pending FA.. and yes.. he can’t skate either. Don’t know about you but to me that doesn’t scream perfect fit for a fast paced contending team. And then we’re not even talking about trading a fast paced 22 year old top 4 defensman with top pairing potential for him. Sorry, but there are no fit to be made here.

I don't know about "way more valuable" but he's about a 2C in reality which is pretty fair for a cost-controlled top-4 D that could easily reach top-pair level. Don't worry, though: the Avs can't afford Suzuki's contract so even if he were on the table, it still wouldn't work.

It’s not like Monahan is a good stylistic fit, a good skater, produces over a 1/3 of his points on the power play something he would never do in COL, can’t stay healthy and as you pointed out is almost 30 is a pending UFA and Byram is 22 dman under team control for multiple years and has proven he can do it at the highest level the Cup finals. COL would NEVER do this trade it’s preposterous.

Yeah I missed the part where Byram doesn’t get destroyed in shot metrics like Guhle or where Guhle has been a stud in the playoffs. Suzuki on a healthy Avs roster is what the 4th or 5th best forward and he gets paid more than what he produces.

Cool, then there is no need to dream of Byram. A young(not 29 and slow) long term 200ft 2C is what Byram gets moved for.
