Montreal get KK back. He is struggling really bad right now and maybe he has flop but he is still a former 3rd overall pick. It's a good gamble.

Additional Details:

Carolina has no cap space and KK has a big salary. He had great opportunity (powerplay, 2nd line center) but only put 5 point in his last 33 games and 3 points in his last 27. He played the last 3 games on the 4th line. Carolina get a decent goalie with a center that might help them win the cup. Monahan is the opposite of KK, he has 12 points in his last 10 games.

Can't see us doing this. Both Cernak and Sergachev are supposed to come back some time around the all-star. The kids from Syracuse have been just fine and looked good in their small handful of games.

Also more salary would need to be shipped out to bring in two players, retention or not- it's doubtful Sheary (the most likely) waives his NTC in year 1 of his 3 year, 2M deal.

Canes aren’t moving KK. Worst case scenario, he ends up replacing Staal in the long run, which, frankly, isn’t a bad outcome for the Canes. Canes have no interest in either of Allen or Monahan.

KK wasn’t a good experience in Mtl. He is overpaid and not good.

I’m really not a fan of Gauthier. I see that he can developp into RHP at best. I wouldn’t give Harris or Savard for him
