I don't trust Savard to be an upgrade on Ceci and the difference in cap isn't worth giving up Bourgault for.

That is a horrible overpayment for Savard. Ceci is a better player rn. Savard is not an upgrade to him.

Glad that both sides of that trade proposal are in agreement.
Habs also would decline, and prefer Savard 100 times out of 100.
I guess this trade is refused by both teams.

If there's no upgrade on both sides, better keep the player who is liked in the team, shows leadership, knows the system, etc.

Bourgault is speeding towards bust territory as well, like Lavoie 2.0.

I am a Habs fan but wish the Oilers to win the Cup. Love that team!

Cheers guys.

Even when it's over an extra year, retention doesn't cost a top prospect. You can demand more than a 5th if you'd like but I don't imagine it would warrant more than a 4th.

Wrong Savard. I'd trade that package for this guy:

Or better yet:

Personally, and I say this as a Habs fan, if I was the Oilers GM, I would not be making any changes right now. The Oilers are literally the only team in the league who have not lost yet in 2024, why mess with what is working?!

They need a Ceci replacement badly. Ceci is honestly a good dman, but he's not fit to play the top pair with Nurse. Other than that, we need another goalie and another forward.
I get where you're coming from, but big picture wise, we still need adjustments to our roster. I'd rather add to the roster to build a better playoff team, rather than not do anything because we're on a win streak and crumble in the playoffs.

Tbh, I think Lavoie will be an NHL player. His shot is NHL caliber and has redefined his game a bit in the AHL. I can see him being a middle 6 forward, given the opportunity. I was never a fan of Bourgoult and hated that we drafted him.
Also, I see some Habs fan like Savard and some don't. I don't watch the Habs, but just stats wise, he's -47 thus far in his career as a Hab and has horrible analytics. He's also 33. I know he was fairly underrated a few season ago, but it seems like his best days are well past him.

You may be right about Lavoie. Like you with Savard, I haven't watched him play. I just don't get good vibes from Lavoie...

As for Savard, fans who watch him play absolutely LOVE him. He is ALWAYS up against the opposition's first line and best players: always. He block shots like there's no tomorrow.
Just like Tortorella was a MASSIVE fan when he was coaching CSavard in Colombus, and why he fetched a 1st round pick with Tampa, Savard is a player that inspires defensive confidence.
I didn't know him AT ALL priori to him coming to Montreal, so I understand you might not know him well. He does NOT stand out; not spectacular.

But any team that gets him, the fans will love him right away. Heart and Soul guy. Will take a bullet to save a goal.
He would fit so well in Edmonton, and honestly, I still wouldn't want to trade him as a Habs fan haha

anyway,Edmonton is tramplinig the NHL right now haha. Incredible. Historic.

Edmonton shouldn't make any of these trades.
