Caps can get more out of that EDM deal probably. Dowd and Lindgren alone can bring back a 1st on their own then Ceci is essentially a cap dump. But also, EDM wouldn't want Lindgren, they have Skinner tearing it up. Unless they want a good back up just in case.

Is Cecil really that bad that they need to pay that much to get rid of him? I’ve seen this or a similar trade proposed a few times

Canes decline. Svechnikov, Teravainen, Necas, Jarvis and Bunting are all straight up better than Mantha. Noesen's making league minimum and doesn't require an asset for 10 fewer points. You keep Mantha. You want to talk Dylan Strome, that's different

no he's not he is a serviceable dman. He get used in trades as they always talk about upgradeing the oilers blueline particularly on RD since they have nurse and ekholm on LD. With them so close to the cap someone with a decent salary would have to go the other way to bring in any other D of impact. hence ceci. if they had space I dont see them moving him.

He's not THAT bad but he's a bottom pairing guy that's making good money this season and next so he's not big cap dump but Caps would have to take him back in the trade which makes it kind of a dump.

Mantha to someone like (if they qualify) Seattle, St. Louis or Islanders who could use a bit more scoring I think would be better options for the Caps to pull a draft pick from.
