Kuraly is honestly a TDL 2025 move in all likelihood, he's a local kid who wears the "A" and fills a need. No incentive to move him for what would likely be a mid-round pick (3rd or 4th) unless he's going to be a UFA who's walking.

Peeke, you can have. Literally just take him. I'll staple up to a 5th-rounder to his a** and drive him to the airport myself (which is saying something considering I don't live in Ohio) to see him gone. That, conveniently, immediately clears up the Jiricek mess in one fell swoop.

Do you hate him enough to retain 50%?

Me personally? Yes, he's one of my least favorite players in the league and he plays for my team.

Columbus? No, no reason to tie up a retention slot when we could buy him out in the offseason for less.

Why do Leaf fans have such fascination with bottom enders on non playoff team? Gee with your lineup the Leafs Giordano and Timmins are gone via waivers and having just six NHL Dmen.
Hardly a wise way to build a roster.

Is Peeke that bad? I never thought he was anything special but the way Leafs fans talk about is like he is some young stud. What would he provide to a contender?

He's young enough that he could still reach regular 3rd pair in a good system, but he's pretty bad. Consistently sub-40% xGF% (currently 32.3%, last year 35.8%, 239th this year and 241st last for D-men to play 200+ minutes), and that's as a "stay at home" guy.

He's too big and slow to be effective on the breakout, too undersized and weak to push people out of the way net-front, too hot-headed and aggressive to avoid taking penalties, and thinks the game to slowly to effectively pass the puck or even clog lanes. He's a pylon in the purest sense who's best quality is his shot (which isn't much) and worst quality is frequently looking skyward right in front of his goalie as the other team celebrates another on-ice goal. If you're lucky, he'll happen to be in the way while pinned in his own end and block a shot...usually before it deflects in off the wide-open guy he was supposed to be covering.

I'm sure he's a good person, but on the ice he's a disaster frequently found in no-man's land both mentally and physically. On a contender, he could be a stay-at-home guy if he just stays in the lane and works on stick-checking, passing it out, and then getting off the ice.

Gio is hardly playable & Timmins is a grenade machine, Kuraly is a huge upgrade to the 3rd line & Peeke is just a RHD with upside

Don’t retain half. Buyout is better and saves us one of the 3 slots. Especially if we have to pay to dump him anyways
