CBJ probably prefer Savoie or Kulich imo but this would be a great trade for Buffalo. Just need a Goalie and the team is pretty much set.

Luckily they have 2 goalies lol. Only reason I didn't add Savoie or Kulich is chemistry

Is Rosen really better than savoie, benson, or kulich?

If Granato gets another dman and still play Sammy top pairing I may rip my hair out

Deal seems pretty reasonable, may want Kulich/Savoie otherwise could see this helping a lot with their glut of below average defenders

It makes sense for Buffalo, but CBJ would have a gaping hole at 1RD with no real recourse to get one since there's not many in this draft that have Jiricek's potential. It's a quick decline from us. Jiricek isn't going anywhere, unless for some unholy reason you're willing to ship out Power.

Luckily they have Severson for 8 years and Ceulemans and Komarov from this trade.

And thank god we have Peeke, Boqvist, and Gudbranson here already. Our Cale Makar has been in-house this whole time!

None of those guys have close to the same ceiling, that's the problem. Severson is clearly a 2nd-pair at best, Ceulemans is struggling in the AHL right now, and Komarov is years away still even if he did develop top-pair potential. We can't keep trading for more darts all the time, we've got plenty. Quality over quantity, especially on defense.

Jiricek is also years away from top pair potential especially with CBJ developing him

You would think a Buffalo fan after more than a decade of darkness, would understand another team being reluctant to perpetuate a Forever Rebuild.

This deal looks great to you because you're a biased Sabres fan getting exactly what you want. It does not work for the other team involved because it actively makes the other team worse now and in the future, and your argument is that other team should make the same mistakes Buffalo has made for more than a decade. These two teams do not line up as trading partners because the strengths of their respective pools are exactly the same, as are the weaknesses.

he's younger than komarov, has a higher ceiling, and is more ready right now. this trade isn't enough for cbj.

rosen is interesting as we could use right wing depth as an insurance against dumais not translating at the nhl level but im not sure rosen's profile is a match for cbj needs. we already have brindley and dumais as sub-6' wingers on the right side in the system so i'd think we would be looking for a bigger prospect to balance that out. we're already very small on the wing in the NHL as it is.

Your trading a 20 year old prospect for a 20 year old prospect on similar levels. That trade doesn't make Columbus worse
