Norlinder and Rempe basically offsets eachother, don't think we're getting Kakko PLUS something for a middle 6 rental.

Everyone that was looking at Lindholm will now have to look elsewhere, so yes there is an impact on the center market (not just Monahan). The price may not be impacted much but the pressure to meet the original asking prices has increased.

Of course it will....... That doesn't mean Habs will get equal to what Lindholm got. Just means that set the market for centers that other teams will base their offers for center for. I:E if Lindholm was worth that, we are prepared to offer X for Monahan. etc

Respectfully - two takes from Habs fans who have a vested interest in wanting a team to over pay for a good center/wing who is on an expiring contract. In reality, Monahan is worth a 2nd and a prospect…which is about the same price every year that good players go for.

These are not binary things. Teams who were looking at Lindholm are not REQUIRED to do anything. They could simply not trade at all, or maybe shift resources to another area of need.

Vancouver paid more to have Flames make this move now, many weeks before the deadline.

I’ve seen some posts on here since last night that are truly baffling. Monahan wouldn’t even return Kakko alone.

Rangers need a centreman. Who's the best available centreman right now and how much are you willing to give up to get him?

Respectfully, the Rangers may need a center, but I highly doubt that Drury is going to overpay for anything this year. He’s be better off trading a 2nd for Nic Dowd and moving on.

Lindholm is the ceiling for the pending UFA trade returns and well above what Monahan could get.

I don't stand to gain anything here. It's simple supply and demand. Supply has decreased so demand on the remainder goes up. As I said, that isn't limited to Monahan. Henrique will draw more interest now as well.

I can't control what other people believe the return will be.
I also stated it doesn't necessarily raise Monahan's value, but there will definitely be more teams considering meeting the original price.
Yes, they can do other things. There's always a plan B, C, etc.
That doesn't change the fact that, for every team looking to acquire a middle 6 center, Monahan (et al) are plan A, and the opportunities to proceed with plan A are finite.
