Monahan can be a 1st center, you should over pay for him (cc; Habs fans).

Unless Debrusk is not willing to extend i’d pass on that all day long.

The centers have been a strength and i don’t really want Hertl’s contract.

The fact that you are cap tight with a 20 man roster, not a thing, just further reason why it’s not happening this year.

1. Look at the standings - they don't need it.
2. The bruins are definitely not in need of that trash contract.

hard pass.

If Hertl wants out, add Lysell and maybe a mid round pick and the sharks probably do it.

the six years left is a bad thing, not a good thing. Hertl doesn't have value with that contract.

i think more like retain some salary before the conversation even begins.

A 20 man roster is not a thing. Sorry, but if Hertl is coming to Boston in season, it’s because they traded Ullmark for a pick and that pick is going to San Jose as well as likely Grz to make the money closer.

I could see a Hertl deal, but not during the season

And yet he has 64 points, 63 points and on pace for 56 points on the worst team in the league. he's more than earning his paycheck.

i mean, if we want to go just raw numbers like that, he's 463 in the league in $ per point. He's 33rd in the league in points among centers.

now, none of that is disqualifying. guys that sign a big UFA ticket are going to be expensive. that's not a bad number of points by any means. but lets factor in some other stuff.

His defensive play is okay. it's not great, maybe some would say it borders on good, but i would say its okay. That's not exactly Boston's style when it comes to top six centers. Now lets take a look at that contract. Lets just call a spade a spade. He's not worth that amount of money now. He's 22nd in the league in cap hit among centers, and its pretty tough to find a guy above him that you would favor hertl over. PLD is one, certainly. The good news is that the cap will go up. The bad news is that Hertl's age will as well. I don't think anyone wants that guy until he's 36. I wouldn't go as far to say he's a cap dump, but I wouldn't think he has value. Taking him on is a gamble. The bruins don't really do that. Hard pass, at any price without retention.
